“Nice location and architecture, very basic hotel”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

The hotel is located at a very convenient location across the street from King David (where Obama stayed). Be sure to go up to the the top of the tower if you're there. If you're into bull market high tea, you can always walk across the street for a more pricey coffee and pastries.

Nonetheless, the hotel is over 80 yr old, hence you can expect the facilities to be very basic. The rooms are very worn and the hallway reminds me of "The Shining". If you stay at the YMCA Three Arches, remember not to bring too many pieces of luggage. The elevator there is very tiny and it will take you ages to get all the luggages up/down.

That didnt really matter for me because I spent most of my time exploring Jerusalem and other areas. The bed at the YMCA was quite comfortable, so thats all that mattered to me.

This hotel is like no other because of it's location, architecture and interior design and it's steeped in history.
The rooms are on the small side and need a little refurbishing but very clean comfortable and have all the aminities for this class of hotel.
We loved the big buffet breakfastt which had a big selection.
And above all the staff- they were incredibly helpfull, softspoken and elegant which gave us the feeling that we are staying at a five star hotel.

I have just returned from a 4 night trip to Jerusalem with my wife. We stayed at the Three Arches for the 4 nights and i am pleased to say that we had a great time. Building is beautiful, staff very helpful, food was good, swimming pool clean, rooms cleaned every day. Great location near Mamilla mall and Jaffa gate. Also close to tram line to visit Yad Vashem. Breakfast choice could do with expanding and a toaster at breakfast time would be a useful addition. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. For the price this is a great hotel and i would have no problem recommending it.

We were at the Jerusalem YMCA in the beginning of January. The building is located within a short walk to Jaffa Gate. Due to the weather (occasional showers all the time and 7-10 deg.C) we did not have much opportunity to explore the neighbourhood. The hotel itself is a unique building, all in sandstone, with picturesque towers, arches, collumns. The hall has beautiful vaults covered with paintings. The rooms are very basic, with aged furniture, but clean and quite spacious. During our stay the room was quite chilly, despite the heating switched on all the time; windows untight. Breakfasts were basic, but tasty, you could ask for a fresh made omelette or scrambled eggs. The service at the restaurant was nice, and by the reception desk differently - depended on a person. The prices at the restaurant - too high - 85 NIS for a kebab (ab. $23). Generally we liked the Jerusalem YMCA and despite having some deficiencies - it is a good and extraordinary place to stay.

Lovely architecture, very grand-looking lobby. Good location.
Of note was the fact that cars could not access front lobby - there was a locked front gate which - even after someone came down to unlock it, the driveway does not accommodate cars up to the front lobby anyway. So we had to park on the road, walked up quite a number of steps in the garden area to the main hotel lobby - along with our many suitcases - there was no one to help.
The rooms were very very basic, very old (our TV was a small "1970's syle" one placed on the single desk in the room - really in need of complete renovation. One good thing was that we had a Triple room, at one end of the corridor, so had windows along two walls - nice and bright. Our friends had a smaller & darker room. Both bathrooms needed upgrading - the shower curtain in our room didn't even reach the floor so water seeped/leaked out onto bathroom floor everytime we had a shower.
However, the hotel was nice & quiet with free wi-fi. Good breakfast also.
