The American Colony Hotel
Ranked #10 of 101 Hotels in Jerusalem
Certificate of Excellence

If you like warm, intimate, charming 5 star hotels , with terrific employes than this is the Hotel to stay at in Jerusalem. The Deluxe Pasha Jr. suites in the original building ( # 3,4,5 ) are well worth the money with high painted ceilings, and good views. Rates include Internet and a sumptuous buffet breakfast, including fresh juices, espresso, Turkish Coffee, and fresh made omelets and breads. The bar and restaurant were fun at night and a warm fireplace was burning that made the winter stay even more cozy.

The staff were attentive ,not bothersome, and met all of our requests with a gracious manner. We requested an Airport pickup , and their driver Abu Fadi, was waiting with a sign, and promptly got us to Jerusalem for a speedy checkin.Abu Fadi turned out to be a wonderful resource for some additional day trips to Petra , and our return to the airport.

The most unusual hotel in Jerusalem is the American Colony. It has a rich and long history, is listed among the "Leading Hotels of the World," and has both comfortable rooms and great service. Besides the beautiful architecture and setting in well-kept gardens, the staff of the American Colony is perhaps one of its greatest assets. Some of the most notable are Suheir, Emily, Diana, and Yousef at Reception, and Rana and Jihad in the restaurant, but the entire staff is friendly, helpful, and always ready to do anything to make your stay more comfortable. If you want a treat you will always remember, stay at the American Colony when you are in Jerusalem!

Room Tip: I like the older section, but they are all good.

Stayed for four nights in January in one of the Pasha Deluxe suites in the older main building of the hotel. The room was very nice, had great character, tall ceilings, tiny balcony overlooking the pool with huge windows so nice light. The room was clean and well apportioned. Again, loved the room's character and style. The bathroom needs updating, however. Toilet seat loose, sink and tub drained very slowly and front desk was not responsive to request for attention--didn't pursue, as it wasn't that big a deal, but was incongruous with rest of stay and with expense and reputation of the hotel. Excellent breakfast with range of choices. Cellar bar a fun spot but nearly impossible for a non-smoker. Attached lower level restaurant was excellent, very attentive service, knowledgeable sommelier, delicious meal. Location was perfect for walking to and in the old city. I would return, likely would request one of the newer rooms or suites.

My husband and I highly recommend the American Colony, you won't find a better hotel in the city. We have stayed elsewhere in the past and were stunned at the difference in service. The staff and service at this hotel is 5-star. My husband has come in and out of Jerusalem at least 5-times in 2012 and continued to choose this hotel. It also has great food, bar, pool, and gym. You won't regret staying here.

We stayed at the American Colony Hotel for 5 nights in December. It was a very comfortable, clean hotel. We had a room in the newer tower, which was nice. The rooms in the older section that we saw had more character, but for a newer room ours worked well. There was a small sitting area and plenty of storage (I think we were in a Superior room). The dining room serves a nice buffet breakfast, and you can ask for eggs cooked anyway you want as well. The bar downstairs was quite smoky the two times we went in.

We stayed there from 12. - 14.06.2012. We did an room upgrade to the pacha suite. The room was not bad, big enough, high ceiling and nice view to the pool. The bar in the garden and the pool were very nice. But cleanliness and service was bad: water in the bath tube could not drain off because of human hairs in the drain. It was fixed after 1 day and several calls at the reception! The carpets in the room and in the corridors of the hotel were dirty. Service in the restaurant and the reception was bad/did not exist. We complaint several times at the reception. Ath the end of our stay the lady only told us we can write an e-mail to the manager. No offering for a discount or something. Also have pictures from the dirty bathroom. Think should upload them.

My room was in a new part of the hotel so unfortunately i didint fully experince the feeling of a peaceful recover that this hotel conveys.
my room was a kind of small apartment, very quiet and fully equipped, i also had a small kitchen and a living room, i loved it.
the hotel itself is like a museum, you go back to the Crusades times but in a modern way as i guess the hotel has been recently refreshed and restored.
the bar and the hall already give you the sense of glory and history that breathes in every corner, just look at the list of major VIPs from cinema, politic, fashion who have visited this hotel.
the service is excellent , as well as the quality of rooms and food.
i was there in winter and going back evey evening was like arriving in a warm refuge.
the old city is not far and there are also very good restaurant at walking distance.
i wish i can be back sometimes!

Room Tip: ask for a room in the old wing
