The best thing about this hotel is the front desk staff and manager. Very nice and friendly people. Not so with the maintenance guy who comes to fix anything...very rude and condescending. Elevators were always too small and cramped. Room fridge is totally useless. We had booked two separate twin beds on line, but got two very small single beds...and I mean small. Main floor dining area meals were good, but a whopping $280 shekels PER PERSON per plate on Shabbat...no joking. And we got a nasty surprise for being billed for breakfast, despite the front desk staff telling us the breakfast was complimentary upon check in. So MAKE SURE you ask the price, if there is any, BEFORE ordering anything to eat at any time. Upon complaint, the front desk staff took this off our bill, which was much appreciated. Location is awesome because it is right next to to the bus depot and walking distance to markets.

I stayed at this hotel 3 weeks ago. It was crowded with groups, the elevators were not enough for the amount of people.
The worst was that I forgot a pair of pants in the room and when I called the day after they told me that they did not find them!!! That means that somebody in the hotel decided to keep them for themselves, in other words to steal them...
There was no hair dryer in the room and they do not bring it to the room, you have to collect it yourself at the front desk. (not really what you want to do after taking a shower...) and at the end I was given one that was broken... :-(

From the moment we arrived we were treated well and everything possible was done to help us with everything we needed for our children: special food. cots and eating chairs and good advice for getting around the city. The owner was particularly kind and very sweet with our kids.
Our suite was great and our bed really comfortable - I love the bathroon sinks!
Nice and quiet here too for a good nights sleep for all of us.
Really happy with the food and plenty of healthy options available to choose from. What a huge selection of delicious Israeli salads.
Shabbat Friday dinner had a lovely feel to it in the top dinning room.
Good value for money as Jerusalem hotels are not cheap.
Thanks Jerusalem Gold!

I am a return customer to the Jerusalem Gold Hotel for many reasons. The location is perfect for getting around Jerusalem to government buildings, shops, museums and other tourist points of interest. The new ultra-modern light train picks up and drops off right in front of the hotel. The Central Bus station is only a few steps away making it a quick, easy and stress free way of getting around the entire country of Israel. If you are more for a cab ride, that's easy too as the taxi HQ is only a few steps away from the front door of the hotel. After a full day of activities, it is nice to return to a room which is clean with an extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are always a treat with lots of vegetable dishes and fresh baked whole grain breads. During my recent stay earlier this month (May 2013) the hotel was remodeling the lobby sitting area giving it a fresh coat of paint and new window treatments. Very nice and pleasant.

Room Tip: I have stayed on both sides of the hotel and both were quiet from outside noise. I usually stay on t...

Excellent base for sightseeing. Very friendly owner who makes herself available to chat. Rooms clean and usual facilities. Food was buffet style, plentiful and excellent choices, just seemed to run out of crockery easily.
There was a delay in our rooms being ready despite arriving at 4.30pm but we were offered some free drinks as an apology which was nice. The staff were all very helpful and worked hard.
The best thing about this hotel was its position, next to the main bus station and opposite the tram system, making popping to old Jerusalem very convenient and quick.
When we needed a private room for a group meeting we used the bomb shelter [all hotels have these] which I found a bit claustrophobic.

I have stayed in many hotels Never had such a bad experience.

I'll detail the stuff:

1. The hotel smells from mold, from the very old lobby to the tiny rooms.

2. The room came without a refrigerator, and despite requesting that 5 times, it never arrived.

3. They did not have any basic thing in the room, not even a bottle of water or a plastic cup.

4. The most frustrating part was that they don't know math. I checked in late the 20th for 3 nights, which would of given me the nights of the 20-21-22, and check out on the 23 AA. I checked in and paid for full 3 nights. on the 22nd in the morning, we were still sleeping, and we got bangs on the door, when we asked who is? they didn't answer, just walked straight into the room screaming: "you have to be checked out already", when we explained that we paid for 3 nights, he walked out without even apologizing. When we went to check in, they started again with real rudeness and nastiness, that we have to pay for an additional night, we had to argue with them for 10 minutes, until they realized their stupid mistake... When they finally admitted that it was their mistake, they didn't think to say even once "sorry".

5. When we checked in we ordered wi-fi. They gave us a code, and I gave him the Credit card to swipe that again, which he did. When we checked in, they said payment for wi-fi was not received. They charged it again. Now I am showing is charged twice on my credit card.

6. Worst of all that they have the chutzpah to ask people when checking out to rate them 10 on the online sites....

Anyway, that hotel is not worth $10 a night. They have NO service, NO clean property, NO management, No humanity.

Do not stay there... Stay anywhere else, just not there...
