“Love the Dan”
Reviewed March 4, 2007

This was our second stay at the Dan Panorama Jerusalem. Our room last year was bigger with 2 single beds and a couch (but did not appear to be renovated). This year we were on the 8th floor (non-smoking floor) in a much smaller, but comfortable room, that looked as if it had just been renovated. Even though the room was small, it was quite comfortable for 2 people. I know a couple of previous reviews have commented that the beds are "hard", but we both thought they were firm and very comfortable. The bathroom was small but redone in a beautifully functional way (Lots of storage shelves above the toilet, a pullout magnification mirror, tub with both handheld and fixed shower heads). Every evening someone would come up and check to see if we needed more towels. The hotel staff works very hard to respond to needs and concerns. We paid $128 per night which included a huge, and excellent buffet breakfast. They also have a very nice little business center downstairs where you can buy internet time (a little pricey @ $10 per hour, but convenient).

The location of the hotel cannot be beat! It's about a 10 minute walk to the old city and a 12 -15 minute walk to the Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall and shopping area. We rented a car, which is really the BEST way to see Israel (but not for the faint of heart, since the drivers there are crazy :-). The hotel parking is free and located in an underground garage. If you're going to be out on a Friday, just be aware that they close the garage at sunset, and if you come back after that you won't be able to get in. We didn't get back to the hotel until later Friday evening but were able to find parallel parking in the drive-up/check-in area just outside the garage, along with a whole lot of other people who didn't make it back before sunset!

Stayed February 2007

Hotel is a good value. Good location. Hotel was adequate. Would compare it to an American Holiday Inn. Rooms were nice sized. Bed hard. Towels average but they gave us extra. Gave us extra pillows. Breakfast exellent. Bath room updated. Lots of hot water. Room had a refrigerator which was a convenience. Staff pleasant. Hotel clean.

We stayed 4 nights in November, paying $158 per night incl breakfast and I think we ended up on the 5th floor. The condition of the room suggested that it had been redecorated recently and although quite small we had no complaints. We overlooked a bit of empty land which whilst not so beautiful meant we had a very quiet and peaceful room.

We had informed the hotel that we were bringing a baby and a cot was already set up in the room when we arrived.

Breakfasts were fine with plenty of variety, my only whinge being that when the nicest things went there was quite a delay in replenishing. For Kashrut reasons the breakfasts are dairy only.

The hotel is situated about 10-15 minutes walk from the old city and the new city and is therefore in a great location. The staff were friendly, helpful, courteous and efficient. There was a free underground carpark for guest use (PS if you hire car here avoid Avis on King David Street like the plague!).

All in all, we felt that we could have no real complaints about the Dan. It is clean, comfortable, quiet and well run and I would definitely stay there again.

I went here with a group, and had a lovely room. Very Comfortable, Clean, and centrally located. Just a short cab ride to Ben Yehuda street. It's right around the corner from King David Hotel, YMCA, and Hebrew Union College.

Rooms were small but... there was room to move around. the bathroom was cute.. the bed was hard..

the hotel had helpful staff - they arranged my day in Eilat for me including a driver. They also arranged a driver for me pre arrival.

They were eager to please.. The food was very nice buffet in the evening and breakfast.. If you wanted to order there was a nice selection.

No issues the week I stayed.. however I was there during holidays.. and while eating dinner I got hot and took my jacket off.. I had a short sleve sweater.. Instead of talking to me.. five of the staff stood around and stared at me and wispered.. until I put my jacket back on.. then they cleared away...

For 303 a night it seemed a little pricy.. but it came with perks being on the 10th executive floor.. their was a champane lounge where there were coffees, lattes and breakfast snacks.. along with a big screen tv to eat and relax.. while reading the daily paper.. along with free internet..

  • Liked — cleanlyness
  • Disliked — limited pool access - it was outdoors.. how small the room was..
