“Nice location and rooms are fine”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We stayed here as part of a tour group when we went to Jerusalem. I was glad we had a few days at this hotel because it was a nice hotel and nice room. We had several buffet meals here and they really tried hard to have alot of food and choices. The pool was a little on the small side but it was ok. You can walk to the walled city from here. The easiest way it to go out the front doors, walk left and around the side-back of the building you will see some steps. Go up the steps and then walk about 20 feet slightly to the left of the stairs and you'll see a down staircase that will lead you to a short cut to take through the back way. That's alot easier than walking all around the hotel. Then you can walk through that nice modern shopping area and enter the walled city. It's less than a ten minute walk and the walk takes you right by the US Consulate building. It was all very safe and indeed, we felt very safe around the Jerusalem Jewish people especially. If you're not used to knowing much about the traditional Jewish ways on their sabbath, you will learn about it if you stay here over a weekend. There are Christian churches you can attend, but you pretty much have to find them on your own. The front desk doesn't really know much about their services, when or where.

The location of this property is perfect as a homebase because of its proximity and access to make a trip to most tourist areas.

Very clean, modern property with excellent A/C. Rooms are very comfortable. Lounge is nice; breakfast (buffet) is great with a lot of local cuisine. Unfortunately, they charge for WiFi.

Can easily walk to popular city destinations.

I am updating my previous review. I visited this hotel again in August 2012 (it was a business booking chosen by somebody else) and my previous, largely positive, comments still stand (I wrote a very long review which can be found under November 2011). Whether this hotel will suit you will not be down to quality (the breakfast, service, facilities etc. are all really good) but down to the style of hotel it is. Bear in mind that the Leonardo Plaza is a very large, multi-storey hotel and has a very traditional Jewish character. There are almost no non-Jewish guests and in the summer there are predominantly large families. This time, as it was summer, I was able to enjoy the outdoor pool, which had been closed in the winter. We were given a cooler room further down the corridor away from the lifts, which was definitely preferable to the stuffy room we’d had in November. There is a lovely Arab gentleman who works on Reception (Sufiq??) who gave me a free ride in his own car to the Damascus Gate one morning at the end of his shift and advised me on how to visit Jordan for the day - on his advice I went to Jerash, which was wonderful. I remembered him from our last visit and must say he’s always very helpful and a real asset to this hotel. Overall, my impression is of a very professionally run hotel.

We used to stay in more expensive hotels in the city, but we found that this hotel was a much better value for money compare to other top ranked hotels in Jerusalem. We have decided to try this hotel for the 1st time and the rates were cheaper than what we are used to pay. We have never experienced such a fantastic level of service. Managers welcomed us upon arrival; everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. This is a great place for families. The pool is nice, the food is much better than the other hotels we are used too. I would definitely stay here in the future.

Simply come and stay here. There is nothing more we can say. Everything was fantastic from arrival to check out. Location is unbeatable, staff is amazing, food is great and we should have discovered it before as we normally stay in high end hotels, paid much more and didn’t enjoy it as much as Leonardo Plaza. The only feedback we can give is that in 2012 business people like us, would expect free wifi and different adaptors in the room. We will b back for sure.

We had a wonderful time during our stay here. The room was spacious and brand new. The location was great and very central to the main city attractions. They have a children club and they have entertained our kids for couple of hours, which gave us some free time to enjoy ourselves. There was also a very good walking tor on Shabbat which gave us the insight to new places in Jerusalem. The culinary experience of this hotel is great, food is tasty and fresh, although Friday night dinner was very expensive, we enjoyed every bite. We will be back soon.

Room Tip: ask for the view to the old city

It's the feeling that counts. The Leonardo Plaza Jerusalem. This hotel although it has been one of the top 5 hotels
In Jerusalem since it was built what keeps it there is the friendly attitude of the staff. There are some hotel when you feel as if you are invisible, yet here the Leonardo staff make a point of noticing you.We asked for extra pillows, and they arrived almost as soon as I put the phone receiver down.
Our room, although on the middle floor of the hotel had the most amazing view of the entire 'tourism' area of the city, especially the old city. Incredible to wake up and look at remains of Jerusalem that have survived for thousands of years.
We stayed midweek in August, and the weather was HOT, yet the A/c worked really well. The best bit about August is the hotel BBQ on the balcony overlooking the pool area, most evenings. The food was terrific, steak was cooked to perfection, a nice cold beer, and plenty of variety from the enormous buffet. And reasonably price to boot. NOT TO BE MISSED.
Negatives, well there always are, I think the hotel should offer free parking to guests, although most of the city is within reasonable walking distance of the hotel. A decent coffee maker in the rooms, like in the U.S. Would also be nice. The hotels answer to that was, no hotel has them.. So, BE THE FIRST!!! Negatives aside, I am looking forward to returning to the hotel, (especially for the BBQ in August)

Room Tip: There are 2 sides, New city and old city. Although the Old city side is more expensive..it is worth...
