Wonderful hotel in the center of Jerusalem. The location is the most convenient in a close proximity of the Old City and the new shopping center Mamilla. The hotel has a special character and beauty with a scent of the Old Jerusalem. The hotel offers an amazing view on the Citadel of David and an outside patio with a swimming pool (that open during the summer time). There are several parks and Cinemateque in 10-15 minutes walk.
My room was on the 3rd floor. Spacious, clean, quiet. Nice decor. Flat screen TV. Huge (!!) bathroom with a separate bath tube and shower. Shampoo and conditioner with the Dead Sea salts.
The food is amazing - huge variety of fresh delicatessen! Breakfast includes freshly squeezed juice and milkshakes, yoghurts, different cheeses, corn flex, fish (herring, smoked salmon), vegetables, baked potatoes, variety of bread, and baked cookies etc.
Amenities: wifi (for an additional charge), fitness room, spa (expensive), parking lot (great advantage in this area)
Highly recommend this hotel for a wonderful Jerusalem experience (though expensive).

My wife and I recently returned from our eight visit to the King David. The hotel is one of the best. The food, service and attentional to detail are fantastic. Even litte things, like fresh figs
and other local fruits in the room make a memorable visit. Old City view rooms provide memorable panoramas. In addition, it's worth looking at all the pictures in the hotel showing the famous people who have visited. So much of Israel's history happened at the King David!

If you're only going to be in Jerusalem once, you need to experience the King David Hotel. Your hotel becomes a walk through the history books, starting with the moment you enter the beautiful public rooms. Then you walk down the main corridor of history where you see the signatures of some of the hotel's most famous guests engraved along the floor.

Once in your well appointed room, the TV offers a program with a spectacular review of the hotel's role as a backdrop for so many of the world's historical events. Allow time during your stay to enjoy the many historical photos along the walls, wander the beautiful grounds, enjoy dining on the terrace patio and the other restaurants, and most important of all, allow enough time to enjoy and linger over the morning breakfast buffet - reported as possibly the best in all of Israel. The chef may even share a few recipes with you if you express some interest, as we did.

Room Tip: Staying in even the least expensive room is a magical experience.

A unique elegant hotel with a fascinating history and a distinct flavour of the Levant. The hotel staff are efficient and courteous and aim to please. The rooms are for the most part in good condition, but some rooms are dated and require new plumbing. The best rooms face the old city, but cost more. The city view rooms are small and somewhat gloomy. Afternoon tea or cocktails on the balcony overlooking the old city is momentous, as is the magnificent buffet breakfast in the dining room. We have stayed as tourists at the King David and other hotels in Jerusalem for the past 50 years and continue to return to the King David for the sophisticated atmosphere and good service. If only they would provide free high speed Internet. (Undergroud parking is free)

Room Tip: Old city view rooms are larger but cost more. East facing rooms are sunny and cost less.

Ok it s a very nice hotel But management is stingy and should really renovate hotel entrance seriusly.
Officially they did it, concretely, its the same but clean.
Avoid rooms with new city view, really really low level. 1st floor old city view are the best but also most expensive. Do not expect any discount, its against hotel policy...happilly some new five stars hotels are growing into this area, lets hope King David managment will be reconsider room price or renovate entirely the hotel

Room Tip: old city view or nothing

Dear guest ,
We have read your feedback of November 28th with much attention, yet failed to recognize our hotel in your depiction. It is well known that in the past two years the King David has undergone unprecedented major reconstructions and refurbishments both on the floors and in the public areas. I cannot possibly list all of them as the space on this page is limited, but let me mention the most significant ones:
This spring an extensive refurbishment of the upper two floors (five and six) was undertaken. This included full reconstruction 92 rooms (the styling by Adam Tihany, the international designer who previously fashioned the four lower floors and magnificent public areas of the King David) all rooms are equipped with the latest high tech appliances, including television screens set into the bathroom mirrors.
Last year, four deluxe suites were extensively refurbished, including new flooring and furniture, and the installation of the latest technological accessories: sophisticated electrical systems, televisions concealed in the bathroom mirrors and more.
Just a few months ago, we completed construction of a new exclusive suite on the sixth floor – the Jerusalem Suite. It is parallel in standard to the Royal Suite used for many years by world famous dignitaries.
This year, all the carpets in the main lobby were replaced, a new parquet floor was installed in the reading room, all the chairs and armchairs were replaced in the coffee shop and in the King's bar.
Besides, we have just changed all the walls drapery in the public areas.
I don't mention the major reconstruction of the swimming pool and the garden, as well as the fitness and the business centers accomplished about two years ago. In fact, the list of the management's investment in the premises of the hotel is still very long.
As regards the absence of discounts mentioned, you have apparently stayed with us during the high holidays – Succoth, which is the busiest season and obviously the hotel was overbooked. Therefore, our prices were less flexible than usual.
I hope, dear "Mykosher", you will stay at the King David again in the future and discover the real face of our historic hotel.
Kind Regards,
Hotel Management.
