“Some problems, but they tried their best to fix it!”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

We had some problems with our room. The aircondition didn't work as it shoud, so the room was very cold. My friend and I slept in extra beds (not as good as a bed shoud be in a hotel with 5 stars). But the crew at the hotel did their best to fix it in a full booked hotel. So the service is good, the food is good, and I think we were a bit unlucky.

My wife and I stayed here for the first 6 days of an 11 day trip. The first 2 days were on our own and the next 4 days as part of a tour group. We chose the hotel in order to book a room that we could stay in after the tour started. I paid $80 on top of the high room rate in order to have access to the club room for free breakfast and dinner. They charged this for the entire 6 days instead of just the first 2 days only. When I asked to remove the club room charge for the last 4 days, since the tour included breakfast and dinner, at first a younger desk clerk agreed and credited the 4 day charge but later the manager overruled him and called our room to tell me that, if I wanted the charge removed, then I would have to move to an older room on a different floor, even though I had given up access to the club room. I just went ahead and paid the extra tariff, even though I was paying double for b'fast and dinner, just to keep from having to move. The room we were in wasn't that great to begin with, for the price paid.
Overall, there is a very poor service attitude at this hotel. I believe this is driven by the manager who is quite arrogant and unhelpful.
The hotel is quite large and can be crowded with multiple large tour groups. Unless you need to stay here as part of a tour group, I reccommend trying the smaller American Colony Hotel or National Hotel in the older, arabic, portion of the city, or, if price is no object, the King David.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, make sure to get a rennovated room.

nice big bedroom with plenty of space and a balcony. Air conditioning didn't appear to work as although the noisy fan was working, the room was unbearably hot.
The bed was made every day, but nothing else appeared to be serviced in the room. i poured a glass of complimentary water on day one....it was still there on day 5. The glass wasnt washed up, and the water wasnt replaced. Tea and coffee facilities werent replaced either.
Service in the bar area was very slow at best.
We visited the onsite indian restaurant one night where the food was very poor quality and the service was very slow.
location wasnt great, up on the hill, nothing to see in walking distance so it was a taxi ride everywhere.

Room Tip: the higher the floor, the better the view

Not up to the normal Crowne Plaza standard, 4 lifts are not enough when all working, 2 were out of order so had to use the service lift for 2 days, only 1 person on reception unlike other Crowne Plaza hotels that have at least 3 (Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv).
If you stay check out the ceiling in the reception and the bar which is well scruffy, the views of the new bridge are good, and the business lounge is very nice.

Room Tip: Rooms were good though cold and not enough bedding for a cold February
