“Good Hotel, Convenient for Old City”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Great breakfast, spacious rooms, very close to old city via the Damascus Gate or (even closer) Herod gate. Loved the rooftop swimming pool with view over the city.

It's in East Jerusalem, which tends to be more run-down than West Jerusalem. Sometimes noisy air conditioning.

Our family of five (3 children age 10, 16, and 18) stayed at the Landmark in East Jerusalem during Easter. Staying in East Jerusalem is a good alternative during busy holidays.

The hotel is easy to locate, lies centrally, and has good rooms. The service including the valet parking is great, the Lebanese restaurant serves excellent food - and the roof terrasse is 2nd to none offering a wonderful view of the city.

Room Tip: Go for rooms high up!

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It is a good hotel, the bedrooms are spacious, the bathroom is spacious as well. The bed was good, comfortable. Here was the problem with the service:

- First, we asked for a King size bed. The front desk (which was very nice and friendly) said we would have one, but when we arrived in the room it was 2 twin beds together, and without the mattress that usually goes on top to make it a "couples bed". We saw in the morning, when they were cleaning, that there were bedrooms with King size beds. This was not a major issue...
- However, when we looked at the sheet, it was full of hair... And it also had a step on it, you could see the foot! We called reception and asked them to change. Even the Manager came to look, and apologized. They changed the sheet and pillow cases, and I still found some hair in the new one... oh well...
- At 23:10, I asked for room service. I was told the kitchen closed at 23:00, even though the menu said it closes at midnight. And the menu said they had some offers after midnight, like salad and sandwiched, but on the phone, he said "we can only do cheese sandwich". After 40 minutes waiting, I received the worst cheese sandwich I could imagine... (picture attached!).
- The fire alarm went off at 3AM in the morning 3 times...

So after all of this int he 1st night, it became difficult to give a good grade. However, for the good things:

- Again, the bedroom was fine, spacious and comfortable
- Breakfast was good in the morning, we had friendly staff helping us, good option for breads and eggs and some fresh fruit and fresh orange juice.
- It is about 5-10 minutes to Damascus Gate and the old city, easy to walk there.
- Our room was quiet, we could sleep with the windows open without any problem (room 322)

This hotel was nice, clean, and in a good location. Dinner and breakfast buffets were included. The food was ok but the selection was mostly the same for the five days we were there. There was street noise but it was not loud enough to disturb us at night.

I recently stayed at the freshly renovated St George Landmark Hotel in Jerusalem, just off of Salaheddin Street and a couple of minutes walk from the Old City. The room was spacious, quiet, and very comfortable. Also very clean. Bathroom was well appointed and clean. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. No complaints at all. The staff were lovely - polite, friendly, and helpful. I ate in the hotel restaurant, which was fine but nothing special. I could have probably done better in terms of flavor and value for money if I had bothered to go out, but it was fine. I really recommend St George Landmark and it is quite competitively priced when compared to other nearby hotels of the same class.

Room Tip: None of the views from this hotel are going to be worth 2 cents, and since they have good double gla...
