If you and/or your spouse are having withdrawal and miss seeing all the shops in your upscale hometown mall, this is the place for you. Walk though and you're done. A couple of food places and a few local and/or Europe shops. Clean and quick.

Mythology speaks about thePhoenix, a mythological bird which rises to reincarnation from its own ashes. So it is with Mamilla street just outside the Jaffa gate in magical Jerusalem. In its former glory, It was home to people like Moses Montefiore, and even Theodor Herzl on occasion. It was the first residence and clinic of the famous eye-specialist, Dr' Ticho, before he moved to Nevi'im street. During the course of time, people began abandoning it for greener pastures and slowly it turned into dilapidated slums and a meeting place for street-bums, drug addicts, and crime. The former mayor, Teddy Kollek, designed a plan of restoration in which the original buildings, (stone by stone, brick by brick) would be rebuilt to become what it is today. Some of the stones still have the numbers, (row and number of stone), to show visitors the process of restoration. Apart from the regular names that you would expect to find in any mall which respects itself, The Mamilla mall holds evenings of communal singing, shows, entertainment, art festivals, and even the odd juggler or street-theatre. The only down-side is that it affords no protection from the Hot Jerusalem sun, unless you stay within one of the many stores, restaurants or cafes and that it is slightly pricey. This is certainly not just another mall.

This is pretty much like an American mall, with some known names and some local names. Nothing special other than finding many stores clustered together. A bit of an interesting contrast with the Old City just a block away. Of note, there are several good restaurants in the mall (e.g., Mamilla Café), so a good place to eat while visiting the Old City. Also, there is a pretty good drugstore in the mall if you need anything while in Jerusalem.

Very easy accessible by car ,bus and light rail, and of course if you're in the old city, it's right outside just a few steps. It has a nice variety of shops and eateries . The atmosphere and the outdoor mall makes it airy and not noisy comparing to other Israeli malls and Shuks.

Mamilla mall is a great addition to Jerusalem's high streets. It actually moved the center of town from Kikar Zion to the Mamilla area. best shops are there, many are brands from abroad but as many are local, israeli products. Lots of art and some Cafe's. Go in the evenings when it's cooler. It's open till 22:00 so it's a nice thing to do after a day, touring the city.;
