Had the opportunity to visit these wondeful markets and recommend every visitor to Jerusalem does it too

Super smelling fresh fruit

Amazing vegetables

Halva, turkish delight, fresh everything

A visual sensory experience with the best of everything

A super experience to really feel the local culture of Israel

A must tourist visit and don't go back empty handed, Tahine can travel, halva too and last a long time

Don't you just love the tomatoes and eggplants as well as the melons and stonefruit in Israel

Waking through the Mahane Yehuda Jerusalem Market, you become an explorer of a small world of vibrant colors and smells. The colors are created by the display of the many kinds of fresh fruits, vegetables and bakeries delicacies. The winning smells that change with every step come mainly from the many kinds of local and foreign spices, cheeses and fish. The visit to this market may become also a lesson in aesthetics and understanding of human nature due to the vendors development of an artful presentation of their merchandise in order to enhance people desire to stop , to admire and to buy more than they originally intended. It is recommended to bring a camera in order to be able to recall and enjoy again and again the view of the visit to Mahane Yehuda Market .

This bustling market was a treat to explore. Fresh fruits and vegetables on display, varieties of of halva to make your mouth water, nuts, dried fruits and berries, bakalva, fried honey, breads and pastries, cheeses, spices the list is endless and everything is fresh. Prices are always by kilo, not by piece. Some vendors offer samples, don't miss the halva samples. There are also restaurants for sit-down or take-away. Have a seat, people watch and enjoy the sites, sounds and smells of this delightful market.
The market closes early on Friday for Shabbat and is closed on Saturday. If you go Sunday, the selection will not be as good as nothing will have been brought in over Shabbat.

Each food market is distinctive, and this particular market is steeped in a kaleidoscope of colours and exotic scents. The market bustles with grandmas and their carts elbowing vendors and their deliveries (my money is on the grandmas). The produce is beautifully fresh and the array of sweets seemed endless. The variety of halvah alone was astonishing. I only wish I had more time to sample everything!

Very original and very nice market with a lot of everything. Fresh vegetables, fruits, spices, bread...good restaurants and bars inside. Sellers are friendly to customers. Early in the morning few stands are opened, the inside markets bars are opened also in the evening (with several home and foreign beers). This was one of the most favorite places I have been to in the whole Israel. The markets in Tel Aviv and Akko were not so good like this market.
