After a week of very so-so meals in hotels and some very good street food, this restaurant was a high point of my twelve day stay in Israel and the West Bank. The salmon and black risotto were amazing. The staff brought an extra side to the table at no charge. Service was first rate. This is not a kosher restaurant. While an expensive meal, I felt it was worth every penny. Ten minute walk from my hotel.

We live in Jerusalem and Cafe Paradiso was a restaurant that we frequented many times a month.
NO MORE!!!! They always had the most wonderful soups, sandwiches and salads as well as full meals. The food was great and the prices reasonable. It was a hoppin' place, a place to meet and greet no matter the occasion. Now they put white table cloths on the tables, took all of those great dishes off the menu and raised the prices. The menu is now quite "heavy", actually very little that appealed to us. The food is okay, but no comparison to the old Cafe Paradiso. The restaurant was practically empty , never the case before. There are so many other good restaurants in the area,, that I say skip this one and move on.

There aren’t many restaurants in Jerusalem open on Friday and Saturday so it was a disappointment that one of the few is so much below average and offers bad service.
We ordered squid with beans. The taste was OK but we found some tentacles and bone residuals left which was bad. It looked like plastic. We told the waiters and she took it back to the kitchen and offered us a new portion which we politely refused. When we got the bill we noticed they discounted this portion by 50%. We asked the head waiters to explain why 50%, was it good or bad, there is no half way and you don’t discount a part. She was very rude and arrogant. We felt bad and just paid and left. We also noticed that the waiters eat their lunch while servicing tables which is unacceptable. Otherwise the food was below average. The salmon with black rice was too dry. We will not go back.

Within walking distance to many hotels. Great food but with a casual atmosphere. Good Osso Bucco dish, and the "meatball" dish was wonderful, mostly because of the warm chickpea salad underneath.

We went to this restaurant on shabbat. There was one table outside with five people. We waited for a hostess to even glance in our direction, which no one did. So we asked if they were even open, which they said they were. Then we stood around, waiting some more. We asked the woman at the coffee station/bar if we could have a menu and she looked away. Finally another server brought us a menu. No one asked if would like to sit, so we had to ask again if we could sit. They pointed to a side of the restaurant and said, "yeah, you are two, ok, over there somewhere." We sat at a table that consisted of a table cloth and one setting of silverware. Another five minutes elapsed without anyone coming to our table to welcome us, take drink orders or anything. Despite protestations to try to get someone's attention, it seemed like the four servers all wanted to avoid eye contact; it seemed they were between shifts and just felt it was beneath them to do their job. Finally, after contemplation, we got up and left and informed one server why. There was no apology, just a blank stare. The menu seemed nice, burgers with bacon, lamb occobucu, etc. Too bad that we couldn't enjoy it, and I'll never go back.
