“An oasis of tranquility in the middle of the bustling souk”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

step in to the complex and find yourself transported to a different world - leave the noise and aromas of the souk behind. stroll around, sit in the beautiful gardens and enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee (the famous apple strudel that is so proudly served got mixed reviews - some of us loved it and some of us hated it.); The menu includes other traditional Austrian fare. I visited the hospice as part of tour my workplace took us on.

“Quiet spot on the border between the Muslim and Christian Qaurters”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

The reason I came here was the roof of the building with a nice sight spot on the Old City. Totally recommended. The place includes nice restaurant with a garden, where you can rest from the rush and noise of the Jerusalem streets. You will find austrian desserts (Strudel with coffee), Czech beer, etc...
I haven't stayed in this Hospice as in the hotel, however it looks like a popular place.

“A quiet oasis”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

One of the best aspects of the Austrian Hospice in the Old City of Jerusalem is that by the time you reach it you have been jostled about by so many tourists in the narrow streets of the Old City that entering the quiet and tranquil setting of the hospice is a relief in itself. The food is Austrian fare and is always good though times a bit better than others times. Good coffee as well. Cafeteria style, order at the counter and they call your number when your food is ready. There can be a line at the counter are times but it moves along.

If you approach the hospice and the door is closed and locked there is an intercom button to the left of the doorway, just push the button and they will buzz you in.

Be sure to go to the roof of the hospice, which is open to all visitors, since it gives a good roof-top view of the old city.

“A Little Bit of Heaven in the Holy City”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Situated opposite Station #3 of the Via Dolorosa, the Austrian Hospice is the perfect place for a break.
After ringing the bell, you will be buzzed into a different world.
Built at the end of the 19th century, the building boasts a pilgrims' hotel, restaurant and one of the best lookout vantage points in the Old City.
After climbing a set of stairs, turn left past reception and a small, self-service bit of Austria awaits you. Great coffee, real Austrian apple strudel (with whipped cream) and, if your hungry, Vienner Schnitzel and great potato salad.
Be sure (weather permitting) to eat in the outside garden.

“Lovely refuge from the crowdy old city of Jerusalem”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Visiting the Austrian Hospice in the old city of Jerusalem offers the guest some good coffee, even Melange, Cafe Latte and Espresso, very good Austrian cakes, nice service and a wonderful garden, where you can enjoy the delicious food underneath tall olive-trees.
After walking on the Via Dolorosa - you'll feel like being in a heavenly, peaceful place.
