As hostels go, it's not that cheap, but in Israel we found nothing is so it wasn't unexpected. Apart from this, the hostel was great, basic, clean and comfortable rooms, great bar/ eating area where you can meet some interesting characters and have a good laugh.
Overall the location is the best thing about the Hostel, its well placed 10 mins walk to the old city and all the sights, you can't ask for better than that. Would stay again.

This hostel rocks! :-) Clean dorms, beds and showers. The free Wifi is good and works in the entire hostel. Upstairs area includes kitchen, pool, foozeball, lounge area and bar. This is a great place to chill and meet new people. Also, the tour agency next to the reception area is very convenient when on a tight schedule, and many of the tours actually depart from the hostel. Finally, when out during the day or after having checked out you can have your luggage stored in a safe, video-montored strage room for free. Cannot recommend this hostel enough.

This hostel is not anything special, but its service and it's size more than make up for the lack of character in the rooms. I stayed in a six bed female dorm, it contained a bathroom and toilet. Each bed contained it's own light - allowing the bed occupier to switch on the light without waking the whole room. The toilet and shower were reasonable, not spotless and not filthy. . You also needed to plan for a shower - having to put the hot water timer on 20 minutes before your shower to make sure you had hot water.

My only problem with the room is that the lockers would not lock using a standard lock so there was no security for valuables. As I didn't really have much with me (having traveled from Jordan for a couple of days) this wasn't too much of a big deal but if I had been staying for longer it may have been an issue.

The common area and bar are what makes the place it was easy to meet people and although I did not take part in the Sabbath Meal I did witness it and would take part if I chance to stay there again.

The staff at the counter were helpful, providing maps and local information and a number of other travelers gave me good reviews of their tours.

I think that your experience will depend on your expectations, if you are expecting something hotel quality you will be disappointed, this is a hostel and a great place for solo travelers.

We booked a double bed room. It's about CDN $100/night, about $50 more than our room in Tel-Aviv (also a hostel). Israel is not cheap. This is evident even with just buying a simple meal of shwarma.

The room is very basic and two twin beds placed together to make a double bed. This can be annoying when the bed separates as the night goes by. The room is reasonably clean with a fridge. It had a separate shower room and toilet room. You have the option of having it cleaned every day. We were placed in the third floor so it was not very noisy unless you open the windows then you can hear the traffic. There are earplugs available at reception. Also, if you are an early sleeper, ask if you can have a room in higher floors and away from the common room. We came during the winter and thank goodness the room had a heater.

Unfortunately, you have to put the timer on in order to get a hot shower, This was the same for the accommodations in Tel Aviv and Nazareth as well. You need to remember to extend the timer if there are two of you who need to shower.

The common room is huge equipped with a bar, pool table, kitchen, fridges, piano, couches and hammocks. Breakfast was plentiful comprised of cereal, bread, salads and hummus. We got and boiled eggs to supplement our breakfast. You have to pay extra for a machine-produced cappucino/espresso but it's not worth it. There's coffee and tea available anytime.

They always have activities every night even a Shabbat night which was great to experience even though it's pretty informal. Great time to chat or catch up with other travellers. There's also happy hour but we always missed it because of activities during the day.

The staff especially the volunteers are friendly however, I cannot say the same for the ladies at reception. A client should not feel that you are disturbing them (I mean God forbid I had a question at reception!) especially when it was not even a busy time for them.

There is also the Abraham Tours Desk at reception area which was an excellent source for activities.

There's also a 24-hour convenient store (except for Shabbat) beside it so we bought our wine from there which you can bring to the common room.

Make sure to shop for food before Shabbat since most places including restaurants will close unless owned by Arab or Christian.

Also, you only get a free welcome drink if you book through their website. Unfortunately, we missed out since we booked via the Hostelbookers.

Don't expect much with the available wi-fi especially when in the room.

The place is 30 minutes walk to the old city, 15 minutes walk to the market and 20 minutes walk to the bus station. You can take the tram if you wish but we like to walk.

Overall, it's a good place for backpackers and budget travellers alike. The highlight are the activities and tours offered. Here you end up meeting other independent and interesting travellers, not tourists, who may be your future friends.

We stayed in a double private, poor matrasses, old rooms and you have to heat the water 40 minutes before you want to take a shower which is pretty inconvenient. Fot the price we paid (70 eoros) we expected more.

We wish to extend Abraham's Biblical hospitality to our time. We, the staff & owners of Abraham Hostels, created our dream hostel in Jerusalem to support travelers in the Middle East. Our location allows for easy walking access to all major sites such as the Old City or Mahane Yehuda Market. There are plenty of public transportation options right outside to various Jerusalem sites, as well as to the international airport and other cities in Israel and the West Bank. The hostel offers daily activities and tours in our ongoing effort to encourage travelers to make new friends and new experiences. Whether it's our hostel bar, traveler's information center or chill-out rooftop, we try to provide everything an independent traveler needs when travelling in the area.
