Abraham Hostel Jerusalem
Certificate of Excellence

I am a business traveler and had to extend my stay in Jerusalem for a few days. Everything was full. I was reluctant to book a "Youth Hostel" ('been there, done that") but I read the reviews of this place and thought, "well... for two days how bad can it be?" The place is simple, the rooms basic. But what puts the place in a category of its own is the attention to cleanliness. Spotless. Seriously. Not a cobweb, dustball, or empty sugar packet in a drawer. If you like clean, then go with Abraham. They have figure out what very very few Israeli hotels have figured out -- how to monitor for quality and how to up their game. Very very impressive.

The hostel is at a great location and it has a huge common area with a decent bar and where a nice breakfast is available in the morning. The staff is really helpful and booked a shared taxi to the airport for us.
Our private room was clean, large and had even a fridge, but the windows were not very well insulated so we had to use the AC/heater (which worked fine) a lot and another drawback was the bed: it was two beds put together rather than a double bed.

Really nice place, located in the center, clean and well organized. Huge common area and bar, good to meet people and just hang out! I can also highly recommend to participate at the shabbat dinner which is offered every friday evening.

As a young couple we can only reccomend this hostel. Clean room, not luxury, but great for the money, friendly staff, great location about 10 minutes within the walking distance from the old town. If we ever come to Jerusalem again, we'll definitely choose this place again.

This was a great place to use as a base. You can travel to all parts of Israel/Palestine on day trips from this location. It was convenient and most importantly, clean. You can book tours if you prefer from the travel desk. Only negative comment is the terribly slow Internet connection. I recommend staying here.

Room Tip: some of the rooms are ensuite. that was helpful.

Good location in the center, lots of facilities for tourists (great lounge) and good breakfast. Hostel offers also tours. I chose one day tour to Masala, En Gedi and Dead Sea. I recommend it very much. But note thad Dead Sea is not a very good place for swimming. Rather for playing in the mud. :)

First off the location is great. 15 minute walk to the Old City and 15 minute walk from the bus station or 5 minutes by tram. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I got a single room, no TV but not expected either.. Though the room had a college dorm size fridge to store some food and drinks. The common are is huge, with a community kitchen, plenty of couches to sit and a bar serving full drink menu and limited food. Here is where all the guests either hang out or meet up to head out. From kids to 55+ everyone is here. Although the guests tend to be in their mid 20s all ages are represented , and no one is left out in socializing.

Another added plus is that there is a tour company that operates out of the reception area and offers tours like The Dead Sea, Jordan and the West Bank. It is not only for guests but people staying at the hotel get a 10% discount.

The breakfast is bare bones with cereal, bread, salad and coffee, but its free. You can also buy some food from the market just outside and store it in the community kitchen. I usually do not stay at hostels anymore, but this place is a cut above and really great place to stay, meet people and see the city.

Room Tip: You have to set a timer for hot water, its for energy savings. Its not a hassle , just set it to 20...
