“Not ready for prime time...”
Reviewed August 29, 2010

The hotel is nicely located on a quiet street in the Talpiyot/Arnona neighborhood, within easy walking distance of the promenade. It is a small building, easy to overlook. The lobby is charming and the staff is very friendly. There was free wifi. The hallways, room and bathroom were quite shabby, and we didn't feel comfortable there. Although the price was right, about $90 American, we wouldn't stay there again.

This little hotel was a pleasant surprise for us, first-time travellers to Israel. Located in the Talpiyot neighbourhood, the place is quiet. You do get a good night's sleep. There were six of us in one suite, and the hotel staff did their best to make us feel at home. It is located next to a main road that leads to all the important places in Jerusalem, so either with a rental car, a cab or a bus, it was easy to move around. The hotel staff was also very helpful in this matter.

Their Israeli-type breakfast was very good too, everything was fresh, and we could always have more of any dish if we wanted. It is worth noting that the kitchen was open at night, and they had milk and cereal 24/7 as well as hot water for coffee or tea, and rugelach, so one could at least grab a bite before going to bed.

When we went downstairs in the morning, the table was set already, no need to wait.

The atmosphere is very family-like, it's easy to mingle with other guests.

In summary, this hotel deserves serious consideration for anyone travelling to Jerusalem.

The Eden Hotel is situated a bit south from the Old Town in a residential area. This is good if you want peaceful evenings and a good nights sleep (we heard the birds sing in the evening and morning), bad if you want restaurants or depend on public transport. It is a small newly opened hotel, however the building is older, with all the basic needs. AC, kitchenette, TV and bathroom in the rooms. Our room would need a face lift, but nothing was broken or hanging loose. Breakfast is served in the lobby and is very good. If you need more you only have to ask for it. Staff is very helpful and young (daughters of the owner maybe?).

Walking distance to restaurants is about 10 minutes. We found 2 and we recommend Polly on Yehuda street (Italian cuisine).

The have free wifi in the lobby if you bring your own laptop.

All in all good value for your money as hotels in Jerusalem are not cheap. What you pay on a taxi you will save on the lower room rates.
