Not what we thought - we were hoping for an oasis from the heat of the Old City and a few cold beers with small plates of food. The word Tavern had a different meaning than we imagined. We were a party of four and were greated poorly and told that they did not offer cocktails. The space is rustic and beautiful but we did not feel very welcome.

we tried to eat here after our friends said they enjoyed it in their last visit to Jerusalem. the owner was very rude, told us there was no room without a reservation, and refused to give us a reservation for the next evening unless it was at 5 pm. we were a large group with children and I think he just didn't want us there. Not the kind of business I like to promote, so went elsewhere and don't plan to come back.

went for lunch here when we were turned away from Bulghourji for not being part of a tour group!!

good food and service. the space is amazing - you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the dining area. would recommend and return again

The room is filled with wonderful antiques, lamps and pictures -- worth seeing! But the food was just average. Don't order spaghetti -- not very good, but the sampler platter had great kibbeh and bastrorma.

As someone with Armenian heritage I was excited to go to the Armenian Tavern. First impressions were good as the restaurant is underground, full of stunning artefacts and obviously of historic significance. Warning signs should have gone off when I saw that main courses mostly consist of pasta dishes, anyway I was swayed by the beauty of the interior and the promise of lahamacun. We ordered the mixed platter of starters. The sujuk and kibbeh were quite nice, but the bastorma was soggy and the lahamacun tasteless. The nadir was the main course of grilled chicken. A mound of grilled peppers and foliage arrived with tiny morsels of dry, under seasoned chicken buried beneath. For some unknown reason they'd melted a piece of processed cheese on top. Service was ok, food was uninspiring and awful, and pricey. Armenian tavern you should be ashamed.
