Description: This is a fairly new restaurant which offers very good brasserie type Kosher food (it is for meat products only- there is no dairy available) but has a Middel eastern touch. The most extraordinary thing about it is the location: it is on the 3rd floor of a new and also reconstructed shopping street, right outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. because of the restaurant's placement, it has a view to die for:being on a roof, you feel you can simply reach out and touch the city walls to your left and the rest of Jerusalem facing south, is to your right. It seems like you're in a movie. The service was good, even though it was very crowdedd, and the food, also very good, though the restaurant is too new yet to say how it will develop. In any case, it is certainly worth a visit, which is unforgettable .

We came again to the restaurant after 6 months and we found it disappointing. The food was average and much overpriced. The chairs are not comfortable.

If you want a restaurant with "a view", this place is for you. Overlooking the Old City walls right by the Jaffa Gate the place has a vista which is very difficult to beat.any time of day. Obviously this kind of real estate comes with a price! the food is expensive, thus my advice to save for a special occasion.
I have seen very mixed reviews of this place, mainly on the food front from wonderful to downright awful, so I was'nt sure what to expect. Nevertheless I could'nt fault anything I ate from a starter of freshly fried miniature fish, through a tasty home cooked stew and a mouthwatering chocolate and orange mousse. On top of this the service was first class, attentive without being obsequious.

We came here not for a fantastic dining experience, but just to eat lunch prior to going to the Tower of David Museum on our last day in Israel. We were pleasantly surprised by delicious salads and lamb, and a spectacular and peaceful view - above the crowds. The outside terrace, where we ate, had a beautiful view looking out over the walls of the old city. The restaurant was pretty deserted by the time we got there - I don't know if it would be as peaceful if the restaurant were full. The service was a little slow - we had to work to get our waiter's attention.

Let's start with the good- we had an absolutely fantastic waitress. Without hovering, she was on the spot and very happy to serve. Her suggestions were well taken, too.

Now the bad: We had the worst steak we have ever had there. We asked for entrecote. We do not know what cut of meat we got, but it could not have been entrecote. First of all, it was not cooked the way we asked. The waitress said that medium was between medium and well. The meat was almost moo-ing. That is how rare and under cooked it was. Second of all, there was a very tough membrane running through the meat. Have you ever had a rib steak (that is what entrecote is) with a membrane running through it? We have not. Third of all, the meat was not soft nor was it tasty.

Forget that there were other people with us. Maybe they were happy. We will never go there again.

Kedma is located on top on the Mamilla shopping arcade overlooking the old city.
Location wise, one could not ask for more, and one can even sit outside in the late afternoon in August, a rarity for Israel.
The food however, was not up to the location.
It's overpriced (14$ for a 2oz salmon carpaccio) and sloppily prepared (large pieces of eggshell in my salad).
There are better options in the area and at 80$ for two starters, two salads, a beer and a soft drink, not worth the money.
