“A very good surprise”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

We came at the restaurant with little expectation. We just wanted a good meal, we had a great one.

I've been to some pretty good (and expensive) restaurants in france, and this one was part of my top 5 overall.

We took the middle menu, and discovered afterward that it was a 12 dishes one.
Besides the stuffed figues that were way too acid, everything was excellent, and the wine was very good. There was soo much to eat that we had to doggy bag one full dish and the desert, and we could barely move after the meal.

Even if the restaurant was pretty full this evening, the service was more than ok. Waiters asked us several times how it was going. We even had 2 visits from the chef (I'm not very sensible to those type of attention, but at least it shows he is interested in his clients opinion).

Definitely worth 600NIS spent for two.

“Location location location”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

The location is all that makes it special, just outside the ancient walls of thenold city. The service is also very friendly, however that is all that speaks for this place. The food was very average at best. We ordered a variety of dishes because some of them sounded really interesting, but half of them were completely unedible. So if you are looking for a gastronomic experince choose another place to avoid disapointment.

“Food terrible-great location and good service.”
Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

We saw reviews on here so thought it would be great for a treat meal. However we were so disappointed. The service was great and it was v friendly and the location outside the walls was fab. But the food was all terrible!! We ordered the tasting menu so got to sample lots- the soup trio which was so so salty we couldn't eat it. The stuffed figs were horiffic- the flavours were so overpowering and did not complement each other at all. The baked aubergine made us gag. However the Iraqi meatballs were nice, and the saffron chicken and rice was ok as well. A very disappointing experience considering we love Israeli food and trying new things- would not recommend especially given the extortionate prices.

“Aussie tree....kosher food”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

What do you expect from a restaurant named after an Australian tree....kangaroo, alligator, koala? No! At this kosher restaurant in Jerusalem you get a gourmet kosher experience like no other. A chef who knows how to cook inventively blowing your mind with some dishes inspired by bible like lentil potage that you may give up your birthright for and others like a Palestinian rice dish that may get opposing factions sitting at the same table!

Unforgettable

“Fantastic meal and experience”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Enjoyed every bit of this place. The food was delicious and it seemed authentic and completely appropriate to the setting just out side the walls of the Old City. The service was perfect, great recommendations and we even had a visit from the chef. Highly recommended.
