After strolling in the beautiful city of Jerusalem for a few good hours, we arrived three hungry friends to Luciana. A sign at the entrance indicated us to wait for the hostess, and so we did. Unfortunately, no one came, so we got in. Since no one noticed us, we picked a table and took a seat. About a minute later, we managed to get some attention, and a waitress brought us the menus. In the meantime, we fell in love with the interior design (see included photo), but found the background music (which was comprised of teen pop and dance hits) totally unfitting. The classy look of the restaurant raised our expectations in regard to the food and service, but both fell way short of what we were led to expect.
We ordered three dishes, which arrived late and separately. My dish especially arrived approximately 10 minutes after the other two dishes, but guess what? it wasn't what I ordered. The waitress took it back, and it was not until 10 additional minutes that I got my food, during which, my friends (who waited for my dish at first) almost finished eating. I got no apology from anyone, which I consider terrible service.
All three dishes were average, except the caprese salad which was far below average (first, it came with goat cheese and not mozzarella, and second, it was extremely sour and salty).
We got no toothpicks, wet wipes, desserts menu or any other attention from the waiting staff. If the restaurant was very crowded we could have been a bit more forgiving, but believe it or not, besides us, there were only TWO other occupied tables — so the restaurant was virtually empty. After paying the bill, we left, disappointed, knowing it's one place we won't ever return to.
Don't let the beautiful design captivate you, to our experience, it's the only good thing about Luciana!
