New Palm Hotel & Hostel
Reviewed October 20, 2013

I've stayed 3 days in the new Palm Hostel, and enjoyed it very much. There is plenty of common space to meet and talk with other travellers and the palestinian staff. You can use the kitchen, drink free coffee and tea and use the fast s-dsl internet. How can someone write a bad review? I only saw luckey tourists and travellers there.
It is very near to the damascus gate (Old City) and three important bus stations, where you easely find busses to to all directions in Israel and the Westbank.

Very run down building but this is the standard of all the buildings in this area. The room was a reasonable size but the mattress was very old, and so the bed linen. The (all male) staff were attentive and trying really hard to build their business up. Its certainly not luxurious but if you're willing to have a bit of an adventure...the location is second to none.

Room Tip: Try and ensure you have a window that opens to the outside, not into another room!

Friendly staff, nice hotel, nice simple room - good for the price I paid, and in walking distance of Damascus gate! Right next to a few shops, and cafe so ideal if you are on your own. If you are looking for somewhere convenient I would recommend.

This place is in the best possible location, almost opposite the Damascus Gate to the Old City. It is budget accommodation taken to the extreme. The tiniest room possible, and a tiny window opening onto a stairwell.
Nights do get cold in Jerusalem and they do not provide sufficient blankets to keep warm.
The breakfast was fine, buffet style so I filled up for the morning.
A big worry was the feral cats in the corridor defending their territory. That made me wary of passing by in the dark.
It was good value for money but I could not have stayed any more than the two days I had booked.

First of all their location is the best thing we can say,
very near to the Damascus gate so you can enter the
old city around fifteen minutes. Rooms are small,
breakfasts are OK. But the house keeping is terrible
also the rooms are not clean and my room was airless
because there was not real window. But to tell the truth
in this city, it is not easy to find an budget accomodation
just want to say little better than an dormitory.

The location is great, just outside the Damascus gate and right aross the road from the city tram station of the same name ans also the bus station that will get you to Bethlehem. We heard before that the staff are nice place so close from the old city and the new city i hope to go there again

Room Tip: take room on the second floor

This is a basic hostel with no delusions of grandeur! The beds are adequate but the hostel is very dirty and the kitchen leaves a lot to be desired, it lacks utensils and is very dirty. The toilet hasn't been cleaned for a long time, as for the shower it's typical of the cheaper hostels and resembles a hose as it has no clip to hold it in place.

If you require a bed only and intend to be outside most of the day then you won't find it to bad. Otherwise for 10-25NIS more you can find better accommodation.
