Been in many hotels all over the world and i can definitely say its the most friendly place I've been in.
Staff will make you feel at home, very helpful and service dedicated, location is 5 min walking from the old city, breakfast is tasty and the restaurant is a must every single night, they have the best pizza.

Good budget hotel on the Pally side of Jerusalem. I'm a gentile, so I didn't really care where I stayed. This place was cheap, and fine for single guy.
Good location for old city. Friendly staff. Great breakfast (although coffee was instant!). Restaurant attached is top notch.
This place has the most amazing stand-up bar I've ever seen too! Solid iron, hand-painted, couple hundred years old (I'll see if I can attach a pic).
Hotel recommended for single travellers.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fairly budget from what I could tell

About 5 minutes walk from Herod's gate and 10 from the Damascus gate so ideal for exploring the Old City.

The in-house restaurant is good and hotel guests get a discount. The Philadelphia restaurant near the hotel is good too but slightly more expensive.

Our room was big and had a large balcony. The hotel building is characterful as are the rooms.

The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. They arranged for a taxi to Jericho to take us to and back for less than the price of 1 person going on an organised tour.

The a/c and heating unit is noisy so you may have to turn it off/down at night. The hot water was sometimes only very warm - we were there in January so it might be less of a problem in summer. If you book a double room you may get 2 single beds but this is fairly common in this part of the world.

We stayed for three nights at the end of December at this warm and genuinely welcoming hotel. Our room was simple but completely comfortable, giving the sense of actually BEING somewhere, rather than just anywhere, with a true flavor of the Middle East. The staff is extraordinary and made us feel instantly at home. (That to me is what makes any hotel memorable, but in this case, the Azzahra Hotel really stands out.) An easy 10 minute walk brings you to the walls of the old city of Jerusalem. The breakfasts were just right, and dinners in the hotel restaurant were among the best we had in Israel, with a good selection of authentic Palestinian cuisine, copious and correctly priced.

Finding the hotel was the only drawback, as the Google maps we had printed out were next to useless, given all the one-way streets whose names we could never find. Definitely recommend a GPS to anyone not familiar with East Jerusalem!

This is a lovely family hotel with character. It was quiet and pleasant and the staff went out of their way to be welcoming and accommodating. We had three rooms between us and although the rooms are very basic, they are cozy. A problem with one of the showers being broken was fixed promptly. Only issue: hot water is only turned on for a few hours in the morning and evening - fine in summer but a bit inconvenient in winter. Don't let that stop you, though - the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Also; make sure you eat in the restaurant at least once; good prices and some of the best Mid Eastern food we've ever had!

Room Tip: Some doubles have a little balcony - worth asking for.

I resided in the hotel over christmas 2011. Good location a few minutes walk from the old city, lots of shops and eating places nearby. Although I would recommend the in house restaurant which has a fresh nan bread oven and nice pizza. There are also good quality palestinian dishes, one was particularly delicious, I think it is called the 'matloobah'.
The rooms were clean but they are of different sizes and the propety has 15 room in total. The staff are friendly and accomodating and the breakfast is of average quality.
We had no problems with our stay here and would highly recommend. The trip is very much about Jerusalem and the old city but staying here completed our trip. Compared to other hotels at this busy time with crazy prices this wasnt too bad. Based in an Arab district so expect the call to prayer. I personally loved the sound it was so beautiful and did not find it a distraction or disturbing.
Overall I can highly recommend this place, I enjoyed my time here and without any complaints and that says a lot as my wife is very fussy :)

Stayed here for three nights. Since we arrived late we requested for pickup from hotel and paid usd 75. The ride from the airport to hotel was like an hour. We booked two rooms . One was bigger and with a deck. There was no elevator but the staff was helpful specially Khaled. Ambience was great. You felt like staying in a house and not a hotel. Around 15 minutes walk to the old city of Jerusalem. Rooms are clean and not carpeted. We arrived around 11pm . There was no hot water from the shower. But the rest of the stay the shower of ok. Rooms with airconditining and heater but not centralized. Rooms are quiet enough . Beds are samllbut comfortable. I booked some tours from the hotel but all they do is booked you a taxi with a driver. Our driver was nice but lacks knowledge and english skills . There are some tour agencies outside the hotel and I guess they can do a better job. Or you can buy a book and read about all the places you want to go then hire a taxi from the hotel. Food is abundant and there is Chinese restaurAnt few meters away that we have not tried.breakfast was standard. Ham cheese jam fruits cereals humus and bread and you can have your eggs cooked the way you like it. I don't mind staying here again but At usd 170 a night for Me is a bit expensive . specially the smaller room that they gave us. The first tour the driver took us to the deAd sea. My kids enjoyed the mud massage and float in the water. Then we moved to jerico and took a cable cAr to the top where Jesus was tempted by tbe devil. We also passerby the caves where the dead sea scrolls were discovered. We paid usd 70 each which is bait high sine we were just 4 people . Next day we went to Nazareth then galilee and then the Jordan river where my kids were baptized.you can rent a towel and a white robe. It was a nice experience for them.

Room Tip: Request for a room with a deck
