Shira was a fantastic tour guide of the old city of Jerusalem. The tour did not feel hard going at all as Shira would pause to explain an area in a very comfortable place. I would highly recommend. The city of Jerusalem is incredible.
We took the 2 hour “free” tour (tip accordingly) with Anat who was full of energy and information. Felt we covered a lot of ground in the old city and could return to spend more time visiting the Tower if David or Western Wall if we wished.
The group was quite large but managed to hear everything Anat was saying and she found shady places to stop all along the route.
We did the 2pm free walking tour in the old city with Avi (?). He provided a very good history of the historical importance of old Jerusalem (he even had a laminated timeline!) we walked through all 4 quarters & he explained the significance of each quarter to their inhabitants.
Avi was able to answer all questions with patience & ease. After the tour we visited the terra sanctuary museum, western wall and restaurants on our own, easy after we knew the context and our way around. Tips to Avi, of course!
I have been to Jerusalem for a day trip 3yrs ago and the guide was not half as good as ANAT. she was the best guide we could wish for, knows absolutely everything about the city, very enthusiastic, even plays a little theatre, friendly and veery interesting. The tour was simply awesome!
Since the old city holds so much history, in two hours one cannot go through it all. I think Anna did a great tour. We have seen and heard basics which resulted in a nice overview of the amazing Old City's history.
Apart from that, Anna was really engaged with the tour, explained things in a very interesting way. She really rocked :)
On our first day in Israel, we had a day before our tour began. We walked to the Old City and saw a government tourist office. We spoke to the friendly people inside and were advised to take the Free Jerusalem Tour. The guide works for tips. We registered on line, and arrived at the appointed time for an English tour. We had the privilege of having a young man named Dror as our guide. He has an amazing personality and is filled with knowledge. I am well read on this topic, and he was spot on and taught me a few things. He got the people involved in the conversation and gladly answered all questions. He did not rush to get done. The two hour tour took about 2 1/2 hours. The tour was perfect and he was a pleasure. If you visit, which everyone should as it will dispel a lot of myths, try to get him as your guide. You will not be disappointed.
