This is one of those truly hidden gems...apparently well-known among locals...but tricky to find. The front of the building is a closed restaurant, so when you get to the address, you need to know to walk around to the back lower level facing the city park. It's well worth finding. Excellent contemporary take on traditional Israeli style cooking. Lots of fresh salads, fish, vegetables and meat. Nice selection of Israeli and other wines. We had their fixed price dinner, which comes with multiple choices from the menu. An added attraction, they are open on Friday nights.

Ate there during our trip to Israel, based up the TA reviews and also what the tour books said. Our favorite meal of the week.

The place is hard to find, there is no sign, when the taxi drops you off, you have to walk around the back of the building and down a ramp to find it.

Inside are mostly locals with some sage tourists. There was one table of locals about 14 of them all having a great time and meal, so we knew we were on to something good when we got there.

The service was attentive and spot on. Not just one server, kind of the group approach. The ambiance, a little edgy, certainly not mainstream Israeli or really very touristy at all. But also well done and welcoming.

The food though was tops. I have read some of the reviews here about the food not being anything special. I would have to disagree. Being in Israel for 9 days left us with the chance to have about 20 meals - this was by far the best by a long shot.

I had the steak special which was cooked just right and hit the spot with some main stream food after days of alternate middle eastern and Israeli food. A nice salad first with great dressing as well. My companion had a seafood dish, also a special which was quite delicious with plentiful seafood cooked to perfection. Bread great also. We had no room left for dessert. They all looked good.

Fodors recommended this place as a not miss, and our friends at TA rated it highly. Both were quite right based upon our meal. I would heartily recommend Chakra for any occasion while in Jerusalem.

The restaurant was at the address advertised. It was in the lower level. You have to walk down the ramp. The service was great. The food was great. We had the fixed menu. They brought out many appetizers. They were typical Israeli food. The main dishes of meat and lamb were very tasty. The desert of brownies, ice cream and a flan were out of this world. Great restaurant on a Friday night.

We met over lunch with friends. Food was average, nothing special, especially for the price. Atmosphere was pleasant, a bit loud. Probably not in agreement with current trip advisor rating. Can definitely do better. Service was good.
