“Hidden bar/restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Cosy restaurant/bar with Belgian beers, good food selection and live music at times. This restaurant is hidden in an alley off Jaffa street (Tripadvisor map had it all wrong, this is actually close to Jaffa gate) where you will find more nice food and drink options, even open on Shabat and some all night.

“Charm & Authenticity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013

We had lunch in this small cafe off a storybook Jerusalem alley and felt like hip locals. Wonderful dishes based on family recipes and regional ingredients is a must for foodies looking for the real deal in Jerusalem. Be on the lookout for chefs from near and far who've discovered this very special spot.

“Great Food, Great Atmosphere but a Bit Expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

Barood, tooked away in a little alley just off Yafo street is full of character, excellent service, and hearty meals like Pork Osso Bucco, Stewed Beef with Chickpeas, and Fish Meatballs, just to name a few. When I had the Stewed Beef, it literally melted in your mouth (highly recommended). Plus it's open on Fridays! The only downside: it's a bit expensive for what it is. Be prepared to pay over 80 sheckels for a dish (~USD$20). Definitely worth going to, though!

“Excellent meal on a Friday night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

We didn't know where to go on a Friday night and searched Trip Advisor and a local guide book. Called for a reservation and was nicely accommodated. Had a terrific meal of osso buco and a delicious Israeli white wine. Finished with a warm semolina coconut cake with honey. The food was authentic, excellent for a very moderate price. Atmosphere is clubby and old bistro, but hip. Check out all the vintage Guiness posters and the stickers and WC plates in the bathroom. A hoot! The restaurant is located in a quiet passageway...a little hard to find, but worth the cab ride to get there.
