You know you are in a very special place when you are directed to sit down either inside or outside and the food starts coming without your having said a word. And if you look around at who is eating here, you can see that people from all walks of life are here. This is a 'family' restaurant insofar as everybody connected with it are family. To be sure, the menu is limited but everything you are served is first rate. And it is all topped off with Turkish type coffee. My wife and I have eaten here on previous trips to Haifa and we always come back when we are in the mood for hummus. Our meal for 2 came to 25 shekalim which means it cost us about $7 bucks to eat here. I ask you, where else can you do that in Israel, particularly when the price of the meal includes a nearly 20% value added tax?

First of all, it's a hummus place, limited menu items. You can expect to have very creamy, tasty hummus from Abu Shaker, great price of a 40 shekel meal set comes with salad, hummus, meat and pitas.

A cheap, authentic place to taste the very best that hummus can get.
No fancy chairs or polished tables, but it worth it.
I'm there almost every week.

The place doesn't look fancy at all, and is a basic 'eatery', but the service is very friendly, and the hummus is one of the best of it's type.

Hummus comes in many flavors. Abu Shaker's hummus is of the Galilee type - sweeter, with more Tahini and served slightly warm, with a side of freshly cut vegetables, and at least one type of side-dish (majadra or others).

As a local resident, this hummus is easily the best in town.

It does close rather early - around 5 - 6 pm.
Also, its owners are muslim, so no alcohol is sold.

Very good humus, very cheap. Mostly crowded, service is very fast. A good and quick lunch in Haifa, worth a visit. Don't expect anything fancy :)
