Many restaurants and cafes. Could use more historical information. Lovely area with very nice views.

In spring and summer this is a very lively place with many restaurants and small arts shops. In the evening, the view of the lighted Bahai gardens is real wonder.

It is one of the things that one can visit. But frankly, other than a few old houses where one can read bible sayings in German across the doors (where they have not been removed), there is not much to do. On the other side, it is full of restaurants and two hotels, so if one is hungry, it is not the worst place to be. Then again, one can eat better and cheaper elsewhere. Few locals go. And certainly not at a regular basis. Usually when they have something to do nearby, or a friend decides to make a party somewhere there.

The German Colony is one of the most ancient "living" neighborhoods in Haifa. Founded by the Templares during the second half of the 19th century, it was one of the most successful settlements of the German Templars in Israel (then called "Palestine"). It has been preserved by the Haifa municipality lately and combines the old Historic houses with liveful coffee shops and restaurants along the Ben-Gurion avenue, in which you will always find Christians, Muslems and Jews sitting together. Do not miss the "Colony" hotel and try to join to guided tour held by the Haifa Municipality on Saqturdays.
