“A nice area but not sure it's really an "attraction"”
Review of The German Colony

The German Colony is a nice area to walk around in, but it really had a busy touristy-restaurant feel to it. Not sure it's the "real" Haifa, so if that's what you're looking for, this area is probably not it. But the hotels, boutiques, restaurants are nice to look at and friendly to tourists.

The German colony is situated along Ben Gurion Street at the foot of the Bain gardens (the entrance to the gardens is from the top close to the gold temple). Walking along the street you can have an idea about how this community lives for more than 50 years here till the British mandate sent them back to Germany after the Second World War.
Take a guided tour to this area and Wadi Nisnas the nearby neighborhood and you will enjoy it.

We walked around the colony searching for a good Israeli-style restaurant & were thrilled to find Rak Basar which means 'only meat' in Hebrew. You choose the type of meat that you want from a display case similar to a butcher shop. You are then provided a menu at your table to choose salads. The salads were very fresh and unique and the meat is served on a Habachi grill. We really enjoyed the family style dining experience and the homemade wine with our family of four. The desserts were fabulous as well.

Many restaurants, holiday atmosphere, great place to stroll with your friends or family. Beautiful decorations, Christmas trees lit with different themes, even menorah, you feel great knowing co-existence is possible, and Jews, Christians, Muslims and Baha'i can share this beautiful city: Haifa!

The German Colony offers a variety of good restaurants in which you can sit outside, enjoy excellent food, nice music (depending on the restaurant's characterstics) and a spectacular view of the Bahaii Gardens. My favorite restaurant in this location is Arab owned Fatoosh.
