it is accessible , has now and then new displays , brings to the uninitiated quite a good impression of what is by all measures one of the most intriguing cultures of our modern times

Liked: the store, the exhibitions, the explanations and translations, the beauty of it!
Disliked: pretty crowded when I visited, but cool that there were visitors in ages 5 to 95.

Although the museum exposes Japanese art, and also has a small, unique store, most people visit the place for its cinematek style films, which are displayed in a not too big auditorium, that give the place a special atmosphere. Parking can be a problem, but one can always use the parking lots of the nearby hotels.

This small but pleasant Japanese Art Museum has a nice display of mostly contemporary art. There are also a few older pieces also on display. It is rather small and only takes a short while to see it all. It is located close to all of the Carmel area hotels.
