Hadn't stayed here since the 70s which is dating me as well as the hotel (!). Stayed 4 nights while attending a conference at the University of Haifa and in my whirlwind 3 weeks of travel and 8 hotels this was one of the best experiences. This was because I had one of the refurbished rooms, and the design is nearly perfect (see review below re: comfortable bed, tv embedded in bathroom mirror, shower stall with amazing shower plus huge tub). I could completely unpack, which I really like to do (especially since I had clothes for a 3 week work/vacation trip, making it very hard to keep delving into a suitcase). So much drawer and cabinet space I left an entire drawer of dirty clothes behind (forgotten in bottom nightstand drawer) which the hotel promptly and efficiently mailed to my home. Excellent service! The room rated excellent and service just fine, but the common areas haven't changed much from the 70s, and the gym is totally disgusting. It smelled like mold (which I swear looked like was growing around the edges of the carpet), with rusted equipment that seemed like it was 25 years old. No wonder they make you sign a waiver just to use the equipment. I stayed about 30 seconds and then decided to take a walk outside, which I did every night thereafter. Great rooms. They need to update the common areas, staring with the gym! Also - great gift shop in the hotel - Sara's Jewelry - with very friendly sales help. Considering I had little time to shop while away this was appreciated.

It was an absolute pleasure. We stayed in the newly refurbished rooms on the 6th floor which were really wonderful. Comfortable beds, lots of closets and drawers in the bed rooms, a walk-in glass walled shower as well as a bath, a TV embedded in the bathroom mirror (the kids loved brushing their teeth while watching their favorite show), flat-screen HDTV in bedroom with multimedia features and a wonderful scenery from the window overlooking Haifa bay.
|Breakfast at any Dan Hotel is always wonderful and breakfast at Dan Carmel wasn't any different. Service was excellent. The outdoor swimming pool was very pleasant with lots of lounge chairs and shady spots. I have never seen in any hotel pool a lifeguard so attentive and devoted to his job, very impressive (usually they just sit around the pool reading a newspaper and this guy was all around the place, watching the kids carefully).
The view from The Executive Lounge (open only for age above 18) on the 10th floor is breathtaking!
My only comments are that coffee/tea and the rooms would have been lovely and a free wi-fi as well, but other than that - a perfect stay.

Let me start by saying that I love the Dan Carmel. It has an atmosphere of a respected hotel of another era. It is not glitzy, the furniture (as in most Dan hotels) would be kept until unusable, but everything is comfortable, spacious, cared for. Apparently a part of it is renovated and quite hi tech but I enjoy the older parts as well.
The staff is extremely gracious and helpful.
The senior staff kept asking around for our impressions. kudos for that!
two minor caveats - parking is far from the hotel, and toilets in the public space are difficult to reach, and though the salad bar is great, the entrees are disappointing (again, a trait I am afraid most Dan hotels share).
I recommend this hotel for a peaceful stay in beautiful Haifa!

Just stayed at the Dan Carmel for a quick two day get away. Service was very good and Bisharh at the front desk was extremely helpful. Beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom was perfect. They need to have coffee machines in the rooms, however. Views were breath taking and the pool was great. The hotel could use a bit of refurbishment, but over all we were very happy with the stay.

Great location and great service.

I left my phone in a Taxi in town and the hotel staff worked tirelessly to help me get it back. After many many calls, my phone thankfully reappeared

Thanks again!
