“Great place for local food and local clientele”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

As a Haifen, I regularly go to Abu Yussef with the family or with business clients.

It is a great place where local Arabs and Jews come to eat, so you see the locals, not the tourists. Nice authentic middle-eastern atmosphere - but not fancy or contrived. Very down to earth.

The food is excellent. We like the chicken brochettes (ask for shipud pargiot) and the wide selection of Middle-Eastern salads at the salad bar (only 8NIS per plate). The humus is good too (note - If you're looking for the best Humus in Haifa, go up the street to Abu Shacker - it's a hustling hole in the wall that serves mainly hummus).

Staff consist of mature professional waiters (not beginner students) who have been there for years and are friendly and efficient in the brusque middle-eastern style.

You get a complimentary Turkish coffee with baklawa for desert and a soft ice-cream on your way out.

Address: 1 HaMeginim St. (there are other restaurants with the same name so don't be confused). You can get there with the Carmelite underground.
Enjoy!
