“A small zoo, but charming.”

Haifa Educational Zoo
Reviewed October 4, 2012

I know this is a small zoo by international standards, but for a medium-sized city, this is a great zoo. Its all built into a canyon, so the zoo itself is long, narrow and steep (but there are golf carts catering to those who have trouble with the ascent). Most of the exhibits are standard zoo fare - a walk-through aviary, a dark bat room, a petting area with guinea pigs, rabbits and (I think) turtles, lions, camels, white tigers (a hyped-up special attraction), baboons, and others. And peacocks roaming freely. Again, standard zoo fare, but everything is clean and well-tended, so worth a visit if you like zoos.

Not so much aimals, but nice and quiet area, with children zoo, aviary with vulturous birds. If you are with children buy them water and snacks beforehand, there is no place in zoo to do it.

dirty & smelly, animal enclosures are small & sad........left feeling very sorry for any animals there......also, very steep walkways in parts - not an easy walk......

We walked into the zoo in the end the afternoon, easier with the heat....very pleasant to see the animals, the bears were waving and bathing, the tiger was jumping on the window....nice for kids. The minus point is when people are shooting and banging on the windows...

Keep in mind the zoo is located on the side of the Carmel mountain so when you walk among the different cages, you are gradually walking down the mountain, so keep in mind there is no elevator to take you back up again. Save your strength for the hard walk up the mountain.
