An incredible place to visit, whether you are a couple, a family or a bunch of friends. After renting yourself a bike (there are few kinds of bikes / golf carts at the location), you start circling the swamp/lake, occasionally stopping for some sightseeing, rest or some snack. Great for bird watchers and animal lovers, as the nutrias and other animals roam freely near the lake.
Gets better (and a little pricier) every year :)

The Hula lake a resting place for the migrating birds from Europe to Africa and back should not be missed by the tourist visiting Israel in spring or autumn. It is a unique wonder place where thousands of cranes can be watched all busy flying or engaged in friendly group activities or fighting for the best spot. It is a unique view and experience . The only regret is that birds can not talk to tell us how they know when to start their journey, how do they find the route to destination and survive the experience. Fortunately the Center of the migrating birds is there to answer all these questions.

From Cranes parking by in Israel, to other migrating birds, wild boars and a nice ringing station - all these in and around the swamp/lake of Hahula. Be it by foot, by buggy cart, bike or wit ha tour bus - all means will ensure a satisfing visit. All year long, every season has it's highlight.

This place (Agamon Hula) has a tarmacked circuit of about 10 km around a system of channels and lakes. It is a renowned location for migratory birds and cranes in particular.

Access is free, but it takes a little bit of time to get round on foot. So if you are in a hurry or with small children, it could be better to rent one of several options: ordinary bikes, tandem bikes, special bikes that take 4-6 people, even with a cyclable trailer (!) - or why not a golf cart!

There are plenty of tables along the route for a picnic, so bring your picnic basket. There are also several observation locations for those who focus on the birds.

We did not see many cranes, they seem to leave by early March, but it was still very nice. Lots of birds of prey and kingfishers around, showing off in and out of the water. Also a few pelicans and many warblers.

The terrain is flat, so a bit monotonous. But a nice day out !

This magical artificial lake was created after the swamps in the Hula valley were dried out by the Jewish settlers.
Upon realizing that the ground is not fertile enough to grow crops, it was intentionally flooded in order to allow seabirds to enjoy it.
And they do – by the millions!
During the migration season, you can watch an almost endless array of birds in the lake – mostly herons and cranes.
The specially designed straw bridge allows you to get very close to the birds and watch them from up close and personal.
Make sure to bring your binoculars, if you want to take a really good look at the birds.
The area surrounding the lake is absolutely stunning and shows most of its magic when the sun begins to set.
Don't miss this place while in northern Israel – it's a MUST see.
