20 kms north of Eilat along Highway 12 you branch off to the right and continue 1½ kms along a dirt road to a parking area.
The main trail towards Red Canyon is marked with green markers, but we will recommend that you also hike the northern loop marked with black. To do this, walk along the dirt road another ½ km north. Then the black route branches off to the right (east) and eventually turns south to join the green main trail just before the entrance to the canyon.
In the canyon you have to scramble a bit and descend narrow passages supported by hand rails. At the end of the 250 metres long canyon you have the option (recommendable) of following an alternative upper route (also marked with black) above the canyon. But do not turn around immediately. The yellow rocks around the next bends are very beautiful.
Approaching the parking area there is also an alternative route: A path marked with blue will take you uphill and give a view over the entire area.
The Red Canyon as a whole is very beautiful with rocks in many colours. The signposting with directional markers is excellent. The canyon itself is not that long, may well remind you of the siq at Petra (noruins, though) or even of Antelope Canyon in Arizona.
