“ok- but not 5 starluxery for sure”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

we stayed in the hotel on the 20.9-23.9 2012. just befor the hotel closed for its yearly treatment. we stayed half bord and were expecting really good food- cas i know alot about the constracts of the kitchen in this hotel. friday night dinner was very disapponting with unders seasoned food and over cooked meat. staurday morning breakfest was also disappionting with little veraity and almoset no sweet options.
staturday evening was abit better with some prepared on order dishes- but nothing was really good or inovative- same for sunday breakfast.
the prices for any extras are extrimely high- lunch at the pool bar is about 100 shekels (25 $)for a burger and fries.
location- is very good first row on the beach with a conviniate exit to the beach and the bordwalk.
the rooms were big and all of them had nice balconies with terrific view. romms were clean and big.
the pools were nice- but they were crowded- when the hotel was only half full- wouldnt want to be around when its full.....
the staff in the hotel- reception was ok and helpful.
dinningroom staff- cookes were ok, waiters were crazy- every time we would both get up from the table they would think we were done and clear everything and set the table again- and seemes surprised that we came back- this happend in more that one meal.....
over all disappointing expirence
this is the most expensive hotel in eilat and cots about 30% more than other 5 star hotel in the city but you certenly dont get your moneys worth- not in facilities, not in food and not in service.

Room Tip: go to another hotel- Yam Suf hotel- 4 star on the south beach- same hotel chain better everything

Once again, we have the chance to spend 4 days at the Royal Beach in Eilat.
Once again, everything was perfect. We travel my wife and me with our 3 children's and we booked a family room with much space for everyone.
The food was excellent and the service also, form the managers till the cleaners at the swimming pool, everybody is there for you all day long and all ways with a smile. I told it already and i tell it again, the Royal Beach Eilat is the place to be in Eilat.

We stayed in quite a few hotels in Eilat. Royal Beach is the best. Spacious, clean, courteous service and an excellent spa. Excellent food with special dishes. A little repetitive but rich diversity. Rooms a bit old but very clean and spacious.

I stayed here with my boyfriend as a part of a large group. We did not pay for our stay so I am not sure how much the cost will actually be. However, if looking at the official rates for the hotel at around 1400NIS per night, I would say they seem rather overpriced. I give this 3.5 out of 5.

The good points:

It's an older property but everything is very well maintained. The decor and the layout are a bit dated but well taken care of. The room was spacious (we had the standard "Bella-vista" room) and had a nice balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool area with great views. Everything was super clean and remained so throughout our stay. The bed was very comfortable and absolutely huge. The shower was great and had excellent water pressure.

The pools are nice and there is direct access to the beach (however, note that this is a family destination and there are a lot of children around). There is excellent air conditioning (which is a must in Eilat). The elevators are very fast and you don’t feel crowded though this is a very large hotel.

The dining room was usually full but we did not have to wait most of the time.
It’s a good location for all the touristy bits in Eilat if you are interested in going out and about. On the promenade and a short walking distance to the docks for the various water sports and cruise type activities.

The bad points:

The food was one of the major let downs. We were on half-board and ate at the hotel most meals. Our stay was mostly during the weekend which, in Israel, automatically means you need to lower your expectations (no cooking can be done on Saturday so you are doomed to reheated, pre-cooked fare). However, they failed to meet even these lowered expectations.

Our Saturday evening meal was simply bad. All food was served buffet-style and we tried most things. While there is a vast selection, much of it was below average and the rest was just OK. The Saturday breakfast was also not impressive. The coffee served was American filter coffee from these "coffee machine" pots. This is completely not in line with local standards of coffee. All soft drinks other than tap water were extra during the evening (there was juice in the morning).

Things were much better on Sunday morning when an espresso machine was working and everything was fresh again. This meal was up to the good standards in Israeli hotels.

Other weak points were no free Wi-Fi, not even downstairs. There are a few computers where you can use the Internet but the rate is a high 30ils per hour.

The in-room mini bar is automatic and once you take something out it bills you immediately. That, in itself, is not so bad but it does mean that you cannot use the minibar to store anything you bought yourself (like milk for the coffee-making facilities they provide). A more outrageous charge comes from moving any of the products placed on a small electronic tray in the coffee making area. Did you want to read the back of the cookie box to see what it contained? Think again, you will be charged for picking it up. Yes, moving anything (which can seriously happen by mistake, given the location of products) will result in an automatic charge. I find this annoying as a sort of “trap” for guests. They refer to this as a step taken for your “convenience”, which I find few people would agree with.

There is also a charge for using the Spa (not just for treatments, also for the sauna and the Jacuzzi) and the Gym, something that is usually included in high end hotels.

Overall, we had a great time on our vacation and all of the issues above were minor in influencing our satisfaction. However, as I said, we did not pay for our stay. Had I shelled out the hefty rates they charge, I probably would have felt that I am being nickel and dimed with all these extras and that It is not a good value. I would recommend this hotel if you get a nice deal. Skip the food on the weekend and eat out.
