The Orchid Hotel and Resort Eilat
Ranked #20 of 61 Hotels in Eilat

Stayed at this hotel just before Easter. Based loosely on a Tie Village them, the hotel is built into rocks on a hill and you can order took-took's to take you to your room or the pool area. These are electric cars but be aware that the maintenance staff use petrol ones and they are noisy. It is a few miles from the main town. The number one reason I liked this hotel was that it is not pretentious in any way and the people staying there do not look you up & down or care what you are wearing around the pool unlike a lot of other hotels in this region. The pool area is lovely with free towel's although the pool is not heated. For some reason they have another swimming pool towards the top of the hotel gardens but it is only ornamental (I kid you not, a good sized pool but only to look at!) The rooms are fine but do need some refurbishment. There is free internet access although only available by the pool. They offer free computers and international calls by the pool as well. Breakfast was rubbish compared to other hotels in Eilat, no toaster for starters. Maintenance is slow to react, (computer down for 3 days no one fixed it, telephone not working during our stay no one fixed it etc.) Very clean pace and staff are helpful for a change. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the top are away from the hub-a-bub but being close to the pool you do not have to wait for...

On the positive side, this hotel is located south of Eilat, three kilometers north of the Egyptian border, far away from the Pharaonic monstrosities, scruffy shopping centers, and airport downtown. It is built into the sheer rock and you may just glimpse the sea from the terrace of rooms on the uppermost tier. There are bouganvilleas and palm trees. Birds hop around the branches when they are not ransacking used room service trays considerately left by customers outside their cabins and neglected for hours by hotel staff.

Despite certain positive features, this hotel's low rating reflects its surly, brusque and often ill-trained Israeli staff (the only smiles during our stay came from migrant workers confined to menial tasks), unbearable ambient noise, poor food, and dilapidated, chipped bedroom fittings.

Upon arrival the grim young receptionist provided no information about hotel facilities. Responses to questions during our stay were monosyllabic and unhelpful.

The bar staff hasn't a clue about wine or alcohol. We had to show the wine waiter how to open a bottle, first removing the foil, levering the cork screw against the neck of the bottle and finally removing the cork. A request for a mojito produced incomprehension and half an hour later a watery lemonade-like concoction.

There is not an instant of tranquility with rival loudspeakers booming out over diners and the swimming pool at all times, the electric caddy cars constantly clattering up and down in front of the rooms, neighbors' domestic lives penetrating thin walls, and of course childrens' cries on all sides. (Our neighbor had the decency to spare his family by stepping onto his balcony to smoke and to bellow into his mobile phone - we, of course, paid the price).

In the evenings poolside entertainment shatters the peace of the whole establishment and there are no tranquil corners to pass a quiet moment. High decibel resistant earplugs are indispensable to sleep at night and to survive during the day.

The food is mediocre and institutional, without a trace of the much-touted Thai influence. All meals are buffet style and there is a scuffle to get near the food at busy times.

Let us not even mention the minute "Spa" where Thai massage is indeed on offer, if you can relax against the background of the blaring TV in the tiny directly adjoining gym.

Overall, the oriental theme is apparent only in the occasional wooden carving and in the well worn basic structures which are overlaid with bland international hotel fittings. The general atmosphere is of a theme park or shopping mall, which has seen better days, on a busy holiday week-end.

This hotel could only prove satisfactory to families with children who have been offered a promotional all-in price and who just don't care about bad service, bad food and constant noise.

Room Tip: The only acceptable rooms are at the very top of the hotel from which you may just glimpse the sea.

Untraditionally built as a mall Thailand village on a slope of the mountain this hotel is located about 6 km from Eilat center. You are hauled around anytime in golf carts. free WIFI is provided everywhere, free international calls and computers are available in the lobby. Bicycles are provided free of charge as well as shuttle to the beach in a sister hotel, about 500 meters fromorchid.
Stunning Red Sea and opposite Jordanian shore view is visible almost from all units.
Mornings are hazy but in the afternoon, when sun is locatted behind your back you can see them very beautifully colored.
Israeli buffet breakfest is OK but I wish they could provide better coffee.

Room Tip: There are several types of units, some with jacuzzi. The higher you are the better is the view and l...

As I said, not a 5 star hotel. No promised sea view, not quiet because of the children pool renovations, dust all around and constant tuk-tuk car driving, loud music over the main pool. Everything is heard what neighbour doing. No bathrobe - only in Villas? And rustling bed linen-cant stand them. Ironing is in the room on the half way of the hill and ironing time is max for 10min. - then no ironing for unknown time...Well its bit uncomfortable and worn out. No one cleans verandas...Dinner is way too expensive ca 70€ per three persons since products is more cheap than expensive, and lack of variety. All and all it looks like managing on the low budget. Nearest beach ca 2 km away and the entry is for fee, nearest promising restoran ca 4km away - its difficult to "travel" with the small children, every night somewhere else to eat so no way out - you must eat at the hotel. The staff seem to be the best thing at the hotel but they don't have a habit of greeting and english is not their strongest language? All fish lovers and fighters for animal rights do not visit this hotel - lobby fishes are in a sad environment there. Inspite of all incomfortability in hotel - Eilat is a pearl. Lovely place to be with the children. Lot of time spending activities. Well be back in autumn, but definitely in different hotel.

I chose the hotel as it was a bit away from the Eilat city, to spend quiet and relaxing time. As it was rather low season (February second week) resort was not full and rates were very good. All the rooms are like small houses with independent entrance, so you have a lot of privacy, nice back drop and view towards pool and the sea. We were in room 310, up in the hill and it was separate house with balcony and wonderful view. As the room is more like little thai style house its quite spacious and partly in 2 levels. Beautiful bathroom- soft towels, quality soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Hair dryer.
Paths up to the rooms are steep so they use these little golf cars (they call it tuk-tuk) to take you to your room or downstairs would you wish so/ 24h.
Free bikes, wifi, fitness center, pool (also outdoor hot jacuzzi), sauna and spa + little shop. Free shuttle service.
Across the street was underwater observatory and 2 beaches, north (500 m from hotel) and south (300 m from hotel). Both of them had free entrance for hotel guests, also sunbeds etc in North one, which nicer beach to be.
Breakfast (7-11am) was excellent- big selection of salads, cold dishes, warm dishes, omlett, pastries etc.
Laundry service, ironing room if you wish to iron your clothes. In pool area they had also baby cribs, so guests didn’t had to go to room to put their infant to lunch time nap.
We are very satisfied of the hotel choice and enjoyed our stay 100%.

Room Tip: All the rooms with number 300 and 200 were separate houses.

I stayed here with my mom for 3 nights in Feb. A great place to relax in the off season - no crowds. The weather is warm - but not hot.

Breakfast - excellent.
Hotel staff - cordial - but you need to be clear in asking what you want done (including specifically requesting that they make up your room)
Location is really great - away from the main boardwalk, quiet, and beautiful.
Rooms & View - really nice

Room Tip: If you are in the older suites, ask for a room as high up the mountain as possible. You will get th...

We used a great Winter rate to visit the Orchid Hotel and Resort in Eilat, and loved our stay. We asked for a quiet chalet far from the road and the hotel's centre, and we got one of the "three-in -a-row" chalets with a lovely loft and generous balcony. I'd try for a single in the future, just to add extra privacy. The room was beautifully put-together, subtle colours, and excellent lighting. The bathroom was of a good size and with no signs of "wear and tear". We found the buffet breakfast and dinner buffets to have more than enough variety and the presentation was a delight. My steak at dinner was done medium instead of medium-rare, but it was delicious. The staff were helpful and very pleasant in all things. We came as a couple, but saw that the needs of children were attended to. I think families would enjoy the spacious design and the common areas. I am especially happy that it is on the South Beach, just a short walk (or bicycle ride, as these are free with your room) to the best snorkeling spots in Eilat. This resort provides much calm and comfort. I will be sure to be a guest many times in the future.
