No wireless in room

Only wireless in smoke fill bar

Pool closed at 7pm. Didn't get dark for until 9pm

Upgraded room was to provide access to exec. lounge.

They closed lounge one day to hold their "customer service training"

Exec lounge was the only non smoking place with an free internet

They sure did need the customer service training.

We stayed at the Dan Panorama in early May.
We had a great stay there. Our room was large, the air conditioning worked, the bed was firm, the bathroom was clean. In fact it was everything one could ask for in a hotel room.
We ate breakfast a the breakfast buffet. It was our best breakfast of our two weeks in Israe. The breakfast buffet had salads, breads, baked goods, prepared hot foods, made to order omelette's,cold cereals, bread pudding, pancakes, blintzes and kugels. There were so many choices and not enough time to try them all.
There was entertainment in the lobby during the evening.

Location, Rooms/Bathroom, Pool area, Reception area all good and would not hesitate in recommending these. However, this was our fourth visit and apart from the reasons above one of our main reason for returning was due to the quality and selection of food on previous visits.

The food did not come anywhere near our expectations. It was like a third rate canteen. All the speciality foods, theme nights, the cold meats the varieties of other meats like duck, goose, tongue etc were no longer on offer. What was on offer was cheap, cheap, and cheap, obviously the hotel was cutting costs but what we paid did not reflect this. The restaurant was so bad and chaotic that even though we paid for 7 nights half-board we went out to dinner rather than put up with the DP restaurant.

The breakfasts was just ordinary not up to the usual Israeli standard.

To crown it all, the service in the restaurant, poolside and at the snack bar was abysmal. It seemed that the staff were continually arguing about who should do what to the detriment of the guests. I often felt that I was considered a nuisance rather than a customer. This level of service would not be tolerated anywhere except in Israel.

I will go back to Eilat but not to the DP

We stayed at the Dan Panorama since the next morning we were heading to Petra. I choose the Dan Panorama since it was moderately priced in comparison to the larger hotels in the area and we were not planning on spending too much time in the hotel. The staff was very helpful and checking in was easy. Our room overlooked the lagoon. At first glance, the room is ok. It is clean but if you look closely, the details are lacking-furniture is stained, walls are smudged and the carpet is worn. Bathroom was dark with the dreaded fluorescent lighting but it was clean. I did not really think at $140. US a night it was a great value, however in the resort town of Eilat it would certainly be where the super nice hotels start at $300.US.

The staff at the hotel was very nice but if you are adults traveling without children I wouldn't recommend staying here. The hotel lobby is circular and all of the rooms face out to this open air lobby. This means you can hear all of the noise in the lobby of which there is plenty. The dining room is just as noisy - like a large cafeteria. If you have children and want to go to a place where they can run around and yell - this should be your choice. It is very kid friendly. If you want a quiet relaxing nights sleep I would choose some place else. Again, the staff was great but they can't change the architecture of the hotel.

Last week I spent four nights at the Dan Panorama Eilat. Overall the experience was good. I found the staff helpful and the hotel itself is quite nice. The downside (for some) is that the DP is very popular with families. On one night the hotel was teaming with kids (Channukah). One family had two rooms on opposite ends of the corridor. Their kids were racing back and forth, slamming the doors.

Room: standard. Nice view of the lagoon. Not too much noise from the airport. Bed was comfortable, but the beadspread is a little dated. In Israel they have a thing for beadspreads. I wish they would update and use a new duvet.

Bathroom: also standard. A little marble. Plenty of room, with enough counter space for a travel bag.

Food: Plentiful and very good. The buffet can be very busy, but I enjoyed it.

Pool: Didn't use it. I was there to do some diving in the Red Sea.

Overall the DP is quite nice. I paid $120 per night.

we've stayed at the dan panorama, eilat, many times and it has recently started a downhill slide. the rooms are looking very very tired, akin to a two star kibbutz guesthouse. bedspreads are veritable antiques, looking none too appealing. pillows are dreadful, apparently stuffed with cotton balls, and i'm not kidding! towels are paperthin and insufficient. any luxury is in short supply. breakfasts were decent if not remarkable. in israel one expects amazing breakfasts from even modest places. the dp's were ok but service (i.e. coffee refills) was painfully slow. on the plus side, there was no noticable noise from the very nearby airport and a complaint to the manager garnered a couple of packages of commercial quality candy and a bottle of champagne. my advice; pay more and head to the dan panorama's more elegant sister: the dan eilat.
