This is a very nice hotel right on the beach and promenade with two great swimming pools - one with very nice "rocks" and waterfalls, and a lot of palm treas and flowers. The food was great, the view from the balcony was fantastic and the beach was small but very nice. I would like to note though that for American standarts this is not quite a five stars hotel - it is one of the oldest hotels in Eilat and certainly needs renovations. On the days we were there it also was overcrowded; we had to wait quite some time in the dining room to get glasses for juice and the staff was way to busy to get people served. The pool area gets dirty by the late afternoon - for example, in the main swimming pool they have a very nice area with stairs leading to a lagoon with a small fountain, and by 5 pm there were plastic cups floating there which made it very unpleasant to come and swim there.
However, all small complains I have for this hotel are paid off by an EXCELLENT, simple EXCELLENT customer service! As I said, the hotel needs renovations, and actually some are done right now, and we were given a room on the floor which was in the process of renovation ( 2nd floor) and looked quite bad for a five star hotel! The room itself was not bad and had a nice sea view though was quite simple but the public area on that floor looked dirty and worn out. When I complained to the travel agency where I booked a room, I was immediately ( 5 minutes after I called) contacted by the hotel manager, Mersedes, who was very upset by the fact that I was upset! She said she apologizes for renovations and promised to place us in another room. In the meanwhile just to make me happy she gave me as presents two vouchers to use the SPA ( which turned out to be very nice - with a nice wooden deck and a great jacuzzi overlooking the sea, and free lemonade), two vouchers for a free lunch on any day of our stay, and a voucher to use for a VIP lounge where one can have wine, nuts and cheeses, use Internet, and just relax. In a few minutes she called me and told us she found us a new room. As it turned out, she upgraded us for free for a large luxury suite with a great bed, a marbled jacuzzi bath, great furniture, and a fantastic sea view! It was just unbelievable.
Such a fantastic attitude I kept experiencing throughout our whole stay. People were always nice and friendly and always tried to help. For example, they brought free water with room service when I had to stay in the room but my child wanted a drink. Such attitude made our stay a truly relaxed vacation which we really enjoyed. Thank you, Mersedes. You should be proud of yourself! We will be definetely back and will recommend this hotel to all our friends.
