For anyone exploring traveling to Israel with a family of five (or four for that matter) one quickly realizes that it is next to impossible to find a hotel that can accommodate families without booking two rooms. Le Meridien Eilat is the exception and a great option if you are travelling with children as the suites are large and have fantastic views. That stated, I think there are a few things to note about to this hotel's location: Firstly, while there is beach access (a ladder), there is not a sandy beach for the hotel and one must walk to a nearby beach if you want a beach with sand, etc.. However, there are benefits to this because unlike hotels on the main "strip", Le Meridian isn't overly congested at nighttime when throngs of people walk along the main drag. Secondly, the location of the hotel puts it directly underneath the flight path of planes. While the frequency and noise was almost comedic, we got used to this quickly and as planes don't land in the evening, it never interfered with our evenings or our sleep. Finally, we were quite disappointed that the pool closed at 6pm. I'm not sure how this compares to other hotels in Eilat but when it is 40 plus degrees Celsius outside in the early evening, I want a pool. All this said, the staff was fantastic, the room spacious, the food plentiful and overall it is really an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: As for a room on the 6th floor

The hotel was ok. Fairly overpriced though considering you couldn't swim on the beach there and there was no jacuzzi. The staff at the front desk was a little rude. Breakfast was top notch and the staff there was extremely friendly. We stayed here on Dec 31st and it was a great place to watch the fireworks. So all in all it was kind of a wash for a hotel. For the price I expected better. My biggest gripe was that in August, 8 months after our stay, the hotel charged me 5500 shekels (about $1500 usd) on my credit card. I had to write several emails but the refunded the money and cited human error. I'm a little concerned by the fact that this is even possible - why are they still holding my information and why does someone have the ability to do this? If you're concerned about your privacy you might want to stay somewhere else.

one of the best beaches in Eilat. Good snorkeling. lovely breeze in swimming pool area which is a great help in summer time. Good for family holiday. Suits are very specious especially the two bed suite ( in our case accommodate a family of 6). Breakfast is very rich, fun for kids and has a lot of vegetarian dishes and salads made to order but you better get their early ( become very busy around 9.30). Dinner is overpriced and there are must better options around the beach strip.

We stayed two days at the wonderful comfortable and cozy hotel, the height of the season during the ailat jazz festival in the city. We received excellent service and delicious food, a hotel with all the services visitor needs. We were very pleased.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view

Centrally located close to the red sea mall and the promenade. The vast advantage is the private beach. We were told that the beach is full of spikes. Its true, but unless you're the late Robert Wadlow 2.72 meters high you couldn't touch them if no dive effort is done. Snorkeling is nice at that beach as there are corrals and beautiful fish (not to confuse with the coral beach reserve about five km away).
