Queen of Sheba Eilat
Ranked #25 of 61 Hotels in Eilat
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 31, 2012

We stayed at Queen of Sheba for 10 nigths with half-board in April.
Its location is good, next to the turistic center of Eilat.
The beach is 5-10 minutes on the left of the hotel. The beach has many pebbles, so buy some special surfing shoes in order to get in the water.
Although we had a good time here, in Eilat, I don't think that the hotel and all Eilat are worth the high prices which they charge. I have seen much better Hilton resorts world wide at lower costs, and Egypt, offers better services at much lower prices, and its just a few km away.
The furniture and all the hotel is old, and not so clean. Services provided were also of poor quality for a 5 stars hotel and for a Hilton hotel. We washed the room windows ourselves in order to be able to see through them (it had children fingerprints on it, from the guests before us, and dirt). We were missing a chair and one of the paintings inside the room (we had an empty nail in the wall), and we notified the front desk 3 times, and they did nothing in 10 days. Each afternoon they walk us up at 15:00 to advertise about Chicago restaurant, although we specifically asked to no longer be disturbed.
The restaurant was always crowded, with a long waiting line. Employees at the restaurant were rude-- never smiling and almost always looking disturbed when you asked for something, or when they greated you at the end of the long line. A lot of children inside the hotel and at the restaurant (left unsupervised by their parents), and they placed their fingers in the buffet food and spilt things all around. Food was ok, not spectacular, but enough and with plenty of choice. The restaurant was too noisy, because of all the children and the infants. In warmer weather, try to dine outside, as it is more quiet, and nicer, next to the pool.
One night dinner moved at Chicago grill bar, which was a lovely experience, with great atmosphere and fantastic food.
The room was big, and the seaview is really worthy. You can see the ships pass by, the bridge next to the hotel, and in good weather days, you can see both the Egyptian and the Iordanian shores. The reception and the elevators are also nice.
The internet at the hotel was too expensive, and we found a cheaper alternative by buying an Orange pre-paid phone card, with a 4 GB internet extra package. No free WiFi, not even at front desk.
Things to see: the underwater Observatory was really nice. A Petra( Jordan) day-trip is a must, although it is expensive, it is worth every penny. We arrived by car from Tel Aviv, and the desert road is amazing. It looks like the Great Canion in America, with fantastic scenery.

Room Tip: Pay for the seaview extra, and ask for higher floor in order to have a better view. If you come with...

I was delighted to read that you and your family enjoyed The Makeda Restaurant with its rich Israeli breakfast and the Chicago Grill Bar that is our resort's flagship restaurant.

I was pleased to note you found your room to be spacious and also I'm thrilled you enjoyed our interior decoration of the hotel inspired of biblical palace of the Queen of Sheba. Furthermore we are in the process of ongoing room renovations that will continue to bring our property up to a higher standard of customer satisfaction.

With reference to your comment about our Front Office Staff members, we have followed this up according as I was very surprised and sorry to read of this experience given the hotel prides itself as it is customer service.

In regards to pricing, the hotel operates as a full dynamic pricing structure, meaning our hotel rates may vary from day to day; hence the price quoted from your original room rate was different for a different date. We offer great variety of rooms from deluxe lagoon view rooms with twin or king size bed up to different suites. The family summer vacation we been at Hilton Eilat Queen of Sheba hotel.
It was the magical vacations that we had as a family.
It was start from the service pleasant and courteous that we received at the reception and continue whit pleasant surprise when we get the room.
It was a beautify large room spacious, clean with an enchanting view to the pool and the sea.
Along the entire stay we admired from: clean hotel, polite staff, the service, children's activities, and the spacious pool.

Also enjoyed from the food at the dining room and from the snack bar at the pool.
First we impressed from the new design of the dining room, and we admired the great abundance of dishes, the service courteous waiters, the cleaning, and level of feed was excellent.
We strongly recommend about vacation at Hilton Eilat Queen of Sheba hotel

Would not advice to visit this hotel, it has changed a lot in the last two years for the worse in every sense. The first room we got was plain filthy, so we requested to change to suite. This was more or less, but still the furniture was old and shabby and we could not sit comfortably in the living rooms. The service was one of the worst we have ever got at the Hilton Hotels.

Room Tip: Find a better hotel nearby, where you can get your money value. The location is good, but the servi...

We spent two nights in Eilat at the end of our 2 week trip to Israel. When booking in advance of leaving for Israel, I found the prices of hotels in Eilat to be extremely high, as they were in much of Israel in August, but we decided to spend two nights in Eilat anyway, at the Hilton Queen of Sheba. The hotel was clean, and the rooms were nice enough. The location was excellent. It was late August, and the hotel and City were very crowded. We were surprised when we arrived at the hotel at 6:30 PM after a long, long drive from Tel Aviv, to find that the hotel pool closes at 6:00 PM. With such a hot climate, I don't understand why the pool closes so early - it should stay open a few more hours. We tried the pool the next morning, which was clean and enjoyable, but not as amazing as some of the pools we've experienced at resorts in the Caribbean.

After waiting for about 20 minutes in line to enter the breakfast area, a nice employee named Anit seemed to randomly chose us, and asked if we wanted to go upstairs to the VIP area for breakfast. After some confusion upstairs, the employee in the VIP breakfast area let us enter, and the VIP breakfast area was very nice. The next morning, the line for the regular breakfast area wasn't as long, and overall the breakfasts were excellent, with a wide variety of choices - no need to eat lunch later.

In the middle of the night the second night, the power went off in a portion of our room. Since I need power to run a machine to help me sleep well at night, I called the front desk. They sent somebody up immediately after my second call to fix the problem. Checkout (and checkin) were both fast and easy. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel and our first experience in Eilat, but we may not return to Eilat again when we visit Israel in the future. Customer service was very good, but, again, the price was very high, and there are other, more interesting parts of Israel to explore.

On the second night, we thought we'd try the hotel restaurant. We were quoted a price of 109 NIS for dinner for each adult, and 100 NIS for small children! We found this price to be too high, so we just walked down the promenade to a restaurant named Moses, for a dinner about half the price.

Although I'm glad that we reserved the room from the US before we left, to ensure that we had a room available, I had an inkling that the hotel charges much less to Israelis than to foreign visitors - it is hard to imagine that all the Israeli families we saw there paid $360/night US, as we did. For the price we paid, I was surprised to see that rooms on some floors had small balconies, but the rooms on our floor did not.

I've heard less than satisfactory things about this hotel and some of them are true:
- the rooms do need updating. The shower seems old though I know it's on purpose.
- the walls are scuffed and need cleaning as well as the carpets
- the pool should be bigger considering the size of the hotel
-they should have been more on the ball with Shabbat keys
-toilet was tricky to flush
- we saw pictures that there was a one chair couch and we didnt get one

Long lines to dining room at night lots of
Kids overwhelming don't know if that's in all hotels

The good things
- the rooms are spacious
- the food was fantastic
-staff was pleasant good service such a nice waiter unfortunately don't remember his name
- the location was good especially if you want to be near the beach and not centre
I would probably come back because the good overrides the bad a d we signed to hhOnors so there are benefits only if hey fix the rooms upa bit
