We arrived by taxi from the Arava border and the driver was confused as to where to go - youth hostel could mean any one of a number of cheap hotels. Found it eventually, and he told us that in future, if we were looking for IYHA accommodation, to ask for 'ANNA'. We tried this later in the trip. It works.

So the rooms were clean and well maintained, hotel standard really, with tea and coffee and towels and soap. Balcony nearby with fantastic view. Sleep quality good. Planes landing overhead. Breakfast amazing. We ate dinner there one night, on Shabbat. About £55 for five of us, so well beyond our normal budget but it was good, really good and plenty of it. A short walk to the beach and the shops - 5 minutes at most - and easy for Coral Beach, bus goes from outside.

Prices vary according to weekend and season, I believe.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the balcony

The youth hostel is just opposite the shopping mall, minutes from the beach and near the pyramid shaped Imax. Yes...as other reviews have said, there is a flight of stairs to reception but it's hardly a taxing task...and we'd just walked across the border.

The hostel has a lovely terrace and a great view of the Red Sea. The rooms are clean and have en suite. For a couple (in a room that could sleep 4) it was a little pricey...but then everything is in Israel.

There are set meal times but you can book for groups outside those. Breakfast is extensive with the biggest choice we had over the two weeks we spent travelling around the country...yoghurts, meats, eggs, cereals, breads, salads etc.

The beds are comfortable...the airport is walking distance (a plus), but the planes fly low overhead (not so great).

There is free wifi as well as some lovely terraces but there will always be screaming children...it is a youth hostel too.

It's the location that is the best...it is surrounded by things to see and do, all within moments. There are food outlets galore as well as lots of shops and markets and, of course, the Red Sea is right across the road.

We only stayed overnight on the way back to Tel Aviv and it was great...for a longer stay there is quite a choice in the surrounding area.

My second stay at this hotel and I was just as impressed as the first time. Clean, basic rooms, fab location, nice breakfast, what more could you ask for?
TIPS: there is car parking immediately under the hotel but this is often full and a nightmare to get in. The hotel has further parking around the back which for some reason they don't tell you about but will let you park in if your a guest. Turn right at the roundabout with plastic fish, first right and look for big white gates on your right hand side. Buzz and say you're staying and they'll open the gates.
Also avoid the steps doing this ;)
Though several of the rooms have steps to get to them which is a nightmare with luggage.
Overall it's fab value and i'd definitely recommend it. I'm just a bit disappointed my credit cards went missing in Eilat and I'm sure it was from the room so don't leave anything in there (private room not dorm). Enjoy your hols :)

Stayed two nights on the way to/from Petra. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. A/c was perfect during the warm nights. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a wide selection. Room had shower and sink plus a second sink with the loo. I would definitely go back. Handy to the beach and shopping. Good value.

Room Tip: We had a room at the street end right next to the big outdoor deck. Wonderful location in the building to sit outside and enjoy the view across the harbor to Aqaba Jordan.

We came with our son and a 8 years old cousin and stayed in a private room. Very good value for money, pleasant service, free Wifi (that currently is not working) and packed breakfasts for the early leaving. It's a bit noisy, but with happy children, I couldn't care less..
