“C Hotel - good value in Eilat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2009

This hotel has obviously changed name and is now called C Hotel Eilat

I stayed here for five nights in early december before the Holidays i.e. low season. I picked the hotel because of my limited budget but was very pleased with it. The rooms were a bit run down but spacious and clean, and mine on the sixth floor had a good wiev of the Jordanian mountains (and the sunrise) and the sea. The staff was plesant and the breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from (I'm pretty sure it was kosher, but this is not an issue for me so please confirm it with the hotel if this isimportant for you).

It is perhaps 5-10 min walk to the beach and the hotel is located between the airport and the bus terminal (a couple of blocks away) in an area with lots of shops. You did hear the sound of the aicrafts before takeoff, and this might be disturbing to some people, if so ask for a room a the otther side of the building (and loose the wiev).

The pool area, wich didn't se many guests when I was there had limited opening hours.

Overall a good basic hotel in a city were almost all other hotels are pricier and probably fancier. If you want to pay for that go elsevere, if not this is a good choice.

#1 Price out there-I booked this room on Booking.com. First of all this was the best priced hotel out there. It advertised only $82USD a night! Amazing. Being the fact that every other website including the C Hotels webite was at least $125USD a night. I immediately reserved it then called the hotel to make sure I would be honored that rate. Of course everything was a go. Me and my hubby stayed for only $82bucks! The single rate was even cheaper. Our rate included breakfast each morning which was buffet style and MORE than enough items to choose from. There were eggs, fried, boiled, baked and cooked to order, different meats and cold fishes, plenty of veggies and breads, juices, teas coffee, cereals and fruit. Outstanding!

#2 Location..Location..Location... Okay this hotel is 5minute walk from the central bus station. ..get this only 2minutes walk...yep 2 minutes from the Eilat airport. You walk out the airport cross the street and look to your right and you are there. But we didnt know we were even at the airport cause we never heard any planes. We just happen to take a stroll to the Red Sea which is about an 8 or 10minute walk and saw heavy Police presence outside a building...looked up bam...The airport...lol

Next in general. You are surrounded by shopping. There is a flea market across from the hotel. Shopping stores inside the mall behind the hotel and several department stores kinda like Khols along the way. There is a supermarket to get some snacks and drinks to stock in your frig in your room. Then a 3story mall maybe 10minutes walking distance. The mall had McDonalds in it. The border to Jordan is 5minutes away. Also plenty of places to eat if you do the outside vendors thing or a sit down eatery.

The hotel has a buffet dinner also which is excellent! A bit costly it was 60shekels pp. That rate is a reduction because you are a hotel guest. It is regular priced at 80shekels pp. Drink not included. I do think that the food was very good. The hotel offers a meal plan that I wish I would have paid more attention to. I assume it is probaly at a even more discounted rate if you take the meal plan.

The staff at check in was wonderful and very helpful. The hotel does not have a guest laundry as advertised, but a laundry service that will pick up your clothes. No room has ironing boards. There are designated areas in the hotel to iron. The pool scene was live and popping with music and they have a grill/drink area out there. After dinner they have live entertainment in the lobby and free social drinks. Internet is also free in the lobby. You can use the business center or pick up a signal on your laptop. Dont forget your electric converter

For anyone traveling to the area for an early morning tour, C Hotel does offer a breakfast box. You must request this the night before. We had an early morning tour to Petra and our breakfast was awaiting us.

Our room was comfortable and I am very pleased for the price paid. Nothing fancy but nothing horribly run down. We had two twins pushed together and there was a 3rd twin along the wall. We had a private balcony which gave an amazing picture of the sunrise, personal bathroom, remote control TV which provided 2English speaking channels. One which played great movies all day long, air condition, extra blankets and sheets..

I attached some photos and hope the review helps. I would definetly stay here again!

My girlfriend and I stayed over the 2008/09 New Year period. We booked last minute so didn't have many reasonably affordable options close to the beach.

Not a problem though. Shalom Plaza Hotel was only 5 minutes walk to the main beachfront in Eilat. It's right opposite the airport and although there was quite a few incoming flights throughout our stay and it's located above a shopping centre, noise wasn't an issue at all.

The hotel room was really clean and we received plenty of fresh towels each day after days on the beach.

Buffet breakfast was good and a reasonable selection of hot and cold food was available. We found salad is big on the menu in Israel and there were plenty available at breakfast along with a selection of hot food.

If you're going on any tours that start early in the morning you can order a breakfast box from the hotel the night before and it will be available in the morning before breakfast starts (7am).

The hotel doesn't have an actual official personal laundry service but if you ask at reception they can arrange housekeeping to do it for you and you can pay whatever you feel is reasonable.

The hotel itself generally looks quite dated but this didn't prevent us having a great stay.

We were visting in winter and the temperature was in the early twenties (celcius) so didn't use the pool but it was open most of the day.

All in all, we had no complaints at all and I'd call it a safe bet for an enjoyable, reliable stay.

  • Liked — Clean, reliable housekeeping, 24 hour convenience store located just outside.
  • Disliked — Hotel had nothing unique about it and decor was a little outdated. Not much happening in the hotel itself (eg. activities, services)

You don't seem to get much for your shekel in Israel and this hotel is a good example of that. It is inexpensive compared to Eilat's luxury hotels on the beach, thus as you expect you have about a 15 minute walk to get to the shopping mall and beachfront, which is fine. As mentioned by others, being across the street from the airport really isn't a problem.

Two issues that turned me off:

(1) It's just a shoddy place. While it may have been clean, it's deteriorating. Carpets fraying, marks on walls from luggage, tile grouting missing, etc. It's run-down and not being kept sparkling. You find the lobby by walking through a small shopping center.

(2) Most annoying to me was the fact that the wireless internet only is available in the lobby. I so enjoyed sitting out there on one of 4 chairs trying to accomplish things online while clouds of cigarrette smoke from the mall cafe engulfed me. Really, how much does it cost to put a couple of internet repeaters on each floor so your guests can access the internet at their convenience?

On the plus side, there was lots of parking available in a lot behind the hotel. But I wouldn't stay here again. We had a choice of staying at the nearby Holiday Inn for less money and as we walked by the Holiday Inn it looked like it might have been a better choice.

They have changed the name. It is now the C hotel. Right next to the airport, though there is no noise problem. This hotel is not expensive and you get what you pay for. Everything about the hotel is reasonable with one exception: it has a great pool.

The rooms are very spacious with two beds made up as a king size bed. Additionally, a single bed for our daughter. A little balcony with view to the pool, the city, the airport and the Red Sea. On background, the Jordan mountains. Simply beautiful!!!

Good food for the winter season.

Centric, near the bus station, supermarkets, the beach, the airport and the 'Mall Hayam'.

  • Liked — Centric, spacious
  • Disliked — The pool was dirty, maybe because of the winter they don't use it.
