we had fortunatly just one night in the massada guest house and, apart for the swimming pool, it s an old hostel: the seventy years room was pretty dirty (the bathroom too), the dinner and the breakfast were terrible (i can t see the waiters or the cook chunching all the time wood sticks during the service), and you can t get neither a can of beer. the good thing is the hostel is perfect to take a climb to masada, just for that.

The location is just perfect for a trip to Massada or Dead sea. The rooms are clean and large, the breakfast is rich. There is a swimming pool there, but we didn't try it, 'cause it stops operating at 6 p.m.
There is no laundry service there and also there is no cafe or restaurant, so the only option to have dinner is the one that offers the hotel, and that is rather expensive

Pros: pool, clean, good food, friendly helpful staff, friendly happy guests, beautiful and comfortable common areas, large outdoor balcony, great location just adjacent to entrance of Masada snake path

Cons: the truth is, there are no cons. The place is a little more expensive than other accommodations in other cities, but for what you get, the value is unbeatable.

Room Tip: We stayed in dorm accommodations, because that was the only type available for our timeframe. But they were among the absolute best we experienced on our trip. The bathrooms are clean and the beds are comfortable!

First of all - it's a Hostel! So go In expecting that environment, not a western style 5 star hotel.

If you are planning a morning hike of Massada, it the place to stay. It's right at the base of the trail. You can be up and back before the heat really hits and then head right to breakfast.

Pros: Room are basic but were spacious, clean, comfortable and the air-conditioning works great! The common spaces are spotless, the view is great and the staff was helpful and professional. We only had breakfast there - but it was quite the spread. There was a Nice variety of food, drinks etc. the place has a swimming pool. It looked nice but we didn't have a chance to use it.

The cons: none really

Notes: we didn't really see these as "cons" but just good stuff to know: it's a youth hostel. So, there are lots of large groups of teens and families which can make meal times a bit noisy and chaotic. Also if you get room by a large group, it can make the hallways a bit noisy.

There is nothing else really around here. So it's not necessarily a place that you would use as a "base" to see other sites. It's good for the Massada and that's about it.

I came to masada hostel in the evening to start going up the mountain early in the morning. Very nice hostel. You can have a good dinner in the evening with a great view over the Dead Sea. And after going up to Masada you can come down for breakfast :)
