We (couple with small child) recently stayed for a week. The beach by the hotel has lovely sand and the water was very suitable for a small child to play in. In the distance one could see all-inclusive tower hotels on the outskirts of Kusadasi to remind us of what a lovely spot we were in. The staff both of the hotel and restaurant were very friendly. The room was fairly basic but good value, though the bed was rather hard.

Upon arriving to e room, there was no soap, toilet paper or shampoo in rooms. In addition to tons of dead bugs on the floor. We had to ask them to sweep. We then realized the hot room didn't have any air conditioning. On a positive note, the beach was right in front of our room. Don't go for the beach, go to see Ephesus, as the beach or the place isn't that nice for vacationing. Staff was fairly friendly, in particular the maids. Otherwise, averagely helpful. The absolute worst part of it was, apart from dirty, hot rooms, was that this utility truck came by as we were sitting to the store inside the motel complex, and sprayed EVERYTHING including humans with a horrible pesticide. I was covered in a toxic, thin film. I got a head cold after that. The whole place seemed trashy.

We were charmed by the beach location, the relaxed surroundings and the friendly staff. We had good weather for October half term which of course makes a difference. The Dereli Motel is so incredibly convenient for Ephesus. Ten minutes away in the hire car. We liked having breakfast in the beachside restaurant veranda - especially the fig jam.
We'd dispute "spartan" or "basic" as descriptions of the rooms. They are simple, with what appeared to be recently painted walls - not bad right at the end of the season. Nice new and good quality sheets and bed covers and everything was in working order which can't be said of every hotel in a similar price bracket at this time of year. .
We'd also dispute the review which criticises the cost of the food in the restaurant. If you choose fish in any southern European holiday restaurant it costs a lot. We ate twice in the restaurant in the evening - traditional Turkish kebabs or meetballs etc - and found it to be in the middle of the range of prices that we paid elsewhere. We liked having the little shop to buy cans of drink, packets of nuts, bottles of water or bread for picnics.
If you are driving around we prefered small and relatively quiet Selcuk to the large and brash Kusadasi - but each to his own.
We also visited Priene, Miletus and Didmya which we had virtually to ourselves - but then it was the end of October.

Room Tip: We were in the row of rooms to the east of the reception - with little verandas onto the beach which...

Location is excellent as it is right on the water with great views of surrounding islands. The proximity to Ephesus is a major bonus. The hotel itself is very spartan, but clean. But do not expect anything fancy. You are staying right on the beach and paying very little for a reason. All in all I would recommend this place with the caveat being that you should not expect very much from this hotel in the form of ammenities.

My husband and I live only 45 minutes from this motel, so we've never stayed overnight. We did get a tour of one of the rooms once, and they are clean and neat, and I'd recommend them to anyone. What we especially love are the little porches faces the beach off each room. It's a very "beach-y", relaxing environment. There are also air conditioners in each room. Very important!

This review is really about the restaurant. There is an open air restaurant that is open to the public. You can sit and watch the sun go down as you eat a delicious meal. You walk into the kitchen area, choose from prepared foods and seasonal salads, or choose your uncooked meat and have them grill it while you wait. The food is affordable, and the wait staff is very friendly. Afterwards, take a walk on the beach. Lovely! We've been going for four years now on and off, and have never been disappointed. Never tried it in winter, so can't comment on that, but summer and fall are perfect times to visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the beach and make sure the air conditioner is working. Try to get further awa...

We were backpacking with 2 kids and this place was a perfect choice for 4 days stay to give kids some rest. Wonderful beach, mot at all crowded. Close to Ephesus, close to one of the bugest aquaparks in Turkey. Even if you do not have car, minibuses pass by the Dereli every 20 mins.
The only disadvantage I would say was that rooms were rather basic and there was no air conditioning. Nevertheless sleeping with wide open doors with view on the see pays it back.

I had the pleasure of staying here for 2 days during Summer and it was truly worth it. We were looking for something peaceful, awar from the typical Turkish holiday crowds that would give us the chance to relax and take some time out with books and other activities. The rooms offer a bare minimum, however it is suitable to the atmosphere and you are able to shop from the main town centre or the market within the camping grounds. The rooms were really clean and pratical, do make sure you watch out for the mozzies though as they are in full force at night!

In terms of the beach and the general stay, the grounds offer a little peace of heaven - a sandy rather untouched beach with each of the cabins hidden amongst palm trees. At night you have the chance to side outside your cabin and watch the sunset, we took the opportunity to buy a bottle of wine and do it in style.

In terms of location, it is definitely beneficial to have a car in order to go to the surrounding areas, as it is located in a rich region of history.

I have seen a few comments about the price of seafood at the motel and in the region in general - in Turkey they usually serve fish whole with the head and all, this is the way it is in most restaurants (unless you go to somewhere branded and ask for a salmon steak or a sea bass where you get much less meat and pay the same amount or more!!) and seafood in Turkey is expensive so the prices experienced by people actually quite reasonable.

I cannot wait to get back to this spot for another quiet getaway.
