We had a very nice stay wıth Abdullah and his famıly in Selcuk at Boomerang. There are a variety of types of rooms, wıth a fine view from the terrace, a convenient locatıon just 50 metres north of the main museum, wireless and PCs avaılable, and the rooms are recently completed, with fıne showers, lovely stone work and woodwork. There are rooms looking over the street, and over an open, green space in the back. Some of the rooms have large balconies. Complementary rides ae available to Efesus.

I am staying at the Boomerang now (10/9/10). This is a brilliant guest house for backpackers, even senior citizens like me. The rooms are clean, as is the showers and toilets. The roof top terrace is really comfortable and the breakfast menu is awesome. If you stay a week you can have a different breakfast everyday.

They are improving the terrace, more shade and more plugs for laptops & phones.

There is an excellent kebab shop next door and the bus garage is just 5 minutes walk. 25 yards away is an ATM and the Ephesus Museum is very close. What more can you want.

I have already recommended it to a friend back home and would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in a private room for 2. This place is cheap (as is eating in Selcuk, which is great), but managed not to be worth its value. I'll start with the good: breakfast had generous portions (I personally liked the Turkish breakfast and Boomerang special), although the egg dishes were all bland. The location is great in its closeness to the bus station and the market, but it was still quiet at night. The owner's family was also nice. There was free Internet downstairs and wi-fi.
Now onto the bad: I noticed bugs on the wall (I'm talking baby cockroaches and other suspicious looking bugs) the night that we got there. However, the owner had left and I didn't find anyone in the reception desk or upstairs, so I couldn't change beds/rooms. I was also traveling with other people and they were okay with their beds and it was late, so I didn't bother trying to find another place. Big mistake. I woke up in the middle of the night with bugs on my face and arms and didn't dare sleep anymore. The next day, I let the owner know and instead of trying to address the problem, he got very defensive about it, saying that it was summer time and there would be bugs coming from the outside. After putting off spraying the room and eventually moving us to a room downstairs (with shared bathroom, which always smelled disgusting, by the way), I noticed that he eventually got rid of the beds in the room. Like another reviewer said, he never once apologized about giving me a bad bed. What was worse was that a day later, the bed bug bites started showing up all over my arms and legs and stayed there for a week. The damage was superficial, but it ruined that leg of my trip because of the nasty bites on my skin and paranoia about bugs. The other bad incident involved my friend, so I'll be brief. Basically, the owner tried to get chummy with her, even though she was not even in the least interested in or flirting with him. Quite unprofessional.
I really wish that I read reviews on this site before staying here.

The Boomerang is a good guesthouse in Selcuk with great breakfast and an Anglophone/Australophie host who is working hard on the spacious and pleasant rooms to take off some of their rough edges e.g. no place to hang anything. Especially nice is the well-enclosed shower area. WiFi is another plus.

The manager is really helpful and friendly and the location is great, however the kitchen and the rooms had a LOT to be desired in regards to cleanliness. It felt like a bunch of blokes ran and owned the place and didnt have that 'female' touch (mostly in regards to the decore and cleanliness). We didnt feel like we could even cook there as it was sooo unclean in the kitchen. the rooms were REASONABLY clean, however the carpets need a good wash as do the curtains, the bathroom and linen etc was reasonable. we left before breakfast as we found evidence of mice in the kitchen. not pleasant.

Most travellers are looking for good quality but relevently, cheap accommodation and this is how Boomerang bills itself. Also there is a sense of good English and good info about your stay in Selcuk and your visit to Efes (Ephuses).
The shower head was about a metre off the ground and the toilet was past the shower so wet feet on a dirty looking carpet were assured. If you like hard beds, and I do, then that was ok but the pillows were very hard too.
The breakfast omelet was very good but the deep darkness of the eating area and the strange happenings in that dark area early in the morning were very off-putting. 50TL seemed like a deal but we were stuck in our room with a faulty door key hole and that was not pleasant. Look further and see ANZ or Homeros(?) in the same great location for a better deal.
