Hotel is beautiful, wrapped up in ivy and a lovely rooftop terrace overlooking the St John's Basilica, roman aquaduct and stork nests. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and clean, although is a bit small. There's almost no room to unpack (we stayed in a twin room, no balcony), which is okay for a day or two, but would get a bit too cramped for anything longer.

The hotel's set dinner (2 sides, soup, main & dessert for 25TYR) is probably the best meal you'd get in town for that price. Very worth it and thoroughly delicious. The hotel also organises free drop off and pick up to Ephesus if you want to do a self-guided tour (but a word of warning, the audio guide is not great for Ephesus so would actually recommend going for a tour or getting a guide if you're not very familiar with the history), and very reasonably charged drop off to St Mary's house (10TYR/person instead of 60TYR by taxi). Breakfast is classic Turkish breakfast and good. Location is also great, 5 mins walk downhill to centre of town, 10 to train station. Would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: Book early and try and get a room with a balcony.

Family run hotel in Selcuk. We had a pleasure of staying in this charming, beautifully decorated hotel for 2 nights. Our room was a corner suite on the 2nd floor with a balcony. The absolute best view of the St. John's basilica and the stork nest! The room was very clean and comfortable.
The hotel provides transportation to Ephesus and to Virgin Mary's house for a small fee.
The owners and staff go out of their way to make your stay as best as possible. Their restaurant is simply outstanding. We enjoyed our stay very much.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Bella in end March 2012. The staff was highly informative on the things we could do in Selcuk as well as in the neighbouring areas. They also didn't try to force sell us tours, tiles or carpets. The room may be a little cosy with a tiny bathroom but that did not taint our experience during our stay. This hotel actually set the standard for the rest of our 2 week trip around Turkey.

The only slight issue we had with this hotel is the toilet. Toilet paper cannot be flushed but must be thrown into the trash can. Quite an experience for us both. However, it's apparently the same in the other hotels/toilets.

The hotel served the best breakfast we had throughout our trip. It first came with a plate of very fresh fruits, cheese, olives and warm bread. You can also choose to have eggs done in a few ways. My personal favorite was the omelette. Amazing!!

Location-wise... Few metres from St John's Basilica and 10 minutes walk from the train station.

We highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed three days at this wonderful hotel. It is about two blocks from the main square area, across from the ruins of St Jean's Basilica. We were told the entire hotel was closed for a spell earlier this year for remodeling. It showed. Rooms and hallways are beautifully decorated with local crafts. Beds are comfortable, with indivual heat/ac units, and windows that open.

The staff were very helpful. They spoke excellent English. They assisted with transfers to Ephesus, local sights the guide books neglect, and gave us information about local markets on certain days, etc. I've never had so many hotel staff genuinely offer advice on local events. They are truley proud of their town, and their hotel.

The terrace on the third floor has wonderful views of the city, the citadel and the basical ruins, as well as the mountains around the city. Wonderful way to start the day. The hotel offers dinner on their terrace as well. We don't usually eat in hotel restuarants, but we were exhausted the first night we reached the hotel. The dinner was spectaular, it was the best Turkish food we'd had in our two weeks we spent in the country. A small woodburning fireplace on the terrace added tremendously to the ambience.

This is a hotel I wholeheartedly recommend.

Other: no elevator, great free wifi speeds (~3500kps via ipad) with excellent signal strength. The owners just opened another hotel in the area, but I don't know the name of it.

Room Tip: A couple rooms have windows that open only to light/ventilation well, ask for exterior facing room i...

Very well run hotel, clean and beautifully decorated and in an excellent location. Owners are big on service and really add value to the stay- they collected us from the bus station, free transfers to Ephesus and to the seven sisters for lunch. We left at 6.30am in the morning which was too early for breakfast so the night before they gave us sandwiches for the children's breakfast. The rooftop terrace is very nice but I would only go for a drink and eat elsewhere as the food is ok but not fabulous. The included breakfasts are excellent. Rooms are very very small but as said before very nicely decorated and bathrooms have lots of hot water.

We stayed for two nights. I booked through Expedia but my cousins booked directly and got a better rate. The owner Erdal is very prompt with emails and was very happy to organize pickup and drop. Selcuk is a small village and Hotel Bella is on a cute corner right next to the fortress. Our room was on the second floor, a small double but well decorated. Most amenities were available. The breakfast room only opens at 8 a.m. But they were happy to accommodate us on the second day at 7 30 A.M. I managed to get hot water and tea both days at 6 30 A.M. from the cook but I would positively recommend that the owners keep an electric kettle and some tea and coffee for early morning risers. We had dinner the first night in their terrace restaurant. It was quite good. The next night we ate out. Overall, a very nice place, conveniently located for Ephesus. They organized a tour for us to Pamukkale for 45 Euros which was very good.

Room Tip: Twin rooms are very small and would not recommend if you dont like to climb stairs

The owners of the hotel are so overly gracious and welcoming, they are the highlight of this property. The accommodations themselves are adequate, but very basic; not luxurious by any means.

Our room was very small with no place for suitcases except the floor and very dim lighting. I had booked a twin room, as I was traveling with my mother, but was advised upon arrival that the only room available for us was room with one double bed. The bed fit into the room only because it was pushed up against the wall on one side. The towels had been air-dried and were adequate, but rough. We had no hot water on the first day.

Now, all of that said, when we arrived, one of the owners welcomed us to the rooftop area, which is fabulously inviting, for a cup of tea & to give us information on the area. Since we were arriving around 3pm, we had thought that we didn’t have enough time to visit Ephesus that afternoon. But he advised us that we had more than enough time & offered to drive us there. Within a few minutes, we were touring the site with a book he had lent us to learn more as we meandered through the ruins, and because we arrived later in the day, ended up having the place almost to ourselves by the end of our visit. It was a great experience that we would not have had if he had not been there to help.

Parking was easily found across the street, the hotel is within walking distance to many restaurant options and literally across the street from St. John’s Basilica. It is a great base for explorations - only a 15 minute drive to Sirinçe, where we drove for a relaxing dinner one evening.

The rooftop area had a fire going in the evenings, which made it a great place to relax after a long day of exploring. And the free wi-fi was nice to be able to keep in touch with people back home.

Traveling is 90% about expectations. So I hope you will still choose to stay at Hotel Bella, but go in with lower expectations for the rooms & hopefully you will fall in love.
