I work in the luxury hotel industry and I have the opportunity to stay in five star hotels for business travel. Needless to say, it is always a shock when I travel for pleasure and stay in more basic (affordable) hotels. Yes the rooms are small in comparison, but the quality of service at Hotel Bella is beyond ANYTHING I have ever experienced. The owners of the hotel are hands-on, plus they drive you places and give you great shopping and restaurant suggestions. Thank you Hotel Bella for making our visit so memorable--we will be back next year!
PS. The hotel just upgraded all of their towels!

We have traveled to 25 countries in the last five years, and we have never tried to sleep on a worse mattress. It was like a slab of granite and the sheets are like sandpaper almost giving you a burn everytime you rolled over. The towels as well could stand on their own and have never seen fabric softener. The hotel is right next to a main thorough fare for tour buses so be prepared for alot of noise. Also the lighting is all flourescent taking away all charm of the Turkish fixtures. There is a slight sewege smell permeating from the bathroom, but the whole towns system is inadequate and that is to be expected, so you can't flush toilet paper. The rooms are on the small side so there is not room for two suitcases except on the floor. No phones, tvs or elevators here folks, but there is surprisingly free wifi. The hotel is crammed with Turkish decorations on every inch of wall space. On the positive our experience so far with the staff has been good. They do offer a free ride to and from the Ephesus ruins and have been kind.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms on the front of the hotel due to road noise from tour buses.

We arrived from Istanbul in Izmir on Atlas Air and enjoyed the free bus ride to Selcuk. We were dropped off 100m from the delightful Hotel Bella. We were immediately settled into our small but well appointed room with a balcony view of the Basilica of St. John and the Ayasoluk Fortress. Complimentary tea and coffee were suggested in the rooftop restaurant and our host, Nazmi provided personal suggestions for our 5 day stay.
The Hotel is decorated very tastefully with traditional Turkish ceramics, paintings and rugs. The owners, Nazmi and Erdal have been collecting and selling high quality Turkish art for 2 decades and have a wealth of experience in these matters. Their beautiful art shop is attached to the hotel and purchases are hard to avoid, although there is no pressure whatsoever to partake of their wares.
Free transportation was provided to us by the hotel to Ephesus and Sirence, a lovely village in the hills 8 km. from Selcuk.
The breakfast and evening meals were very good and reasonably priced and the comfortable restaurant with fireplace is a good spot to relax and enjoy meals, a drink or a rousing game of backgammon.
All of our needs and wants were satisfied beyond expectation by the friendly, gracious and knowledgable folks in the Bella. They practice the old adage of "what goes around, comes around" with their smiles and helpfulness.

In our 2-week trip around Turkey, Hotel Bella was probably our favorite place we stayed. The location is great - right in the heart of Selcuk, just blocks from the center of town. The hotel has a magnificent rooftop, with beautiful views of the storks and their nests, comfortable couches to lounge around on, playing backgammon and having a drink. The breakfast is great - freshly prepared to order when you head up there. The decor of the hotel is really beautiful. And the staff was top-notch, giving us an Ephesus guide book to use and offering tips about the area, and driving service to those who needed it. A perfect place to say - I recommend it highly!

We stayed at Hotel Bella in May 2011. The owners were extremely helpful, going over possible itineraries, driving us to Ephesus & back... The food at the rooftop restaurant was delicious with attentive staff. Our room was pleasant and spotless with a little balcony where we could sit in the evenings to have a glass of wine & write in our journal. Wonderful view of a stork nest from our window. Lovely ceramic/carpet store in the hotel, but absolutely no pressure from the owners. It was walking distance to the museum, across the street from the Basilica of St. John, had easy, free parking, fabulous service, price was very reasonable.... what more could we need?! Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

We felt lucky to have gotten rooms having shown up unannounced, hoping for the best. Hotel Bella is a beautiful little place, with a great rooftop restaurant and unique rooms full of textiles and craftwork. Given its location directly beside the ruins of St. John’s Basilica, you can’t help but feel you’ve landed somewhere exclusive. The owner and staff did a wonderful job. We set up a private tour of Esphesus with ease, had an enjoyable meal upstairs, acquired a rug or two at Bella's adjacent shop, and capped the evening off with an enjoyable few rounds on the shisha. By the time we left (the next day) the staff was burning us a cd of their favorite folk music for our car ride. Our stay was short but quite cozy, and we’ll always recommend Bella with grins from ear to ear.

We spent three nights at Hotel Bella in November 2011. The staff was very helpful in orienting us to Selcuk and the nearby historical sites. Even though we had a rental car, they drove us to Ephesus so we could walk the ruins in one direction and not have to double back to the car park. They dropped us off with instructions to have the book seller (souvenir stalls galore at site exit) call the hotel when we were ready to be picked up. Breakfast was good and with their restaurant closed for the season they suggested good places in town.
