Zirve rug is a cooperative that is family run. If you stop there you will be shown how the rugs are made and dyed and how the weaving takes place. You will learn the difference between a carpet and a killim. If you intend to purchase a rug in Turkey I would suggest that you study and learn as much as you can before you get to the show room. Every corner has a carpet salesman and every tout will be glad to guide you to his "brothers-uncles, cousins, or fathers carpet store.
Do your homework before you leave. I would suggest that you buy a rug from a cooperative like Zirve Rugs. Because the women there who make the rugs get a portion of the profits. They have a great show room and you will not believe the beautiful rugs that they can show you. They will also pack and ship the rugs for you so you do not have to worry about carrying the rug in your suitcase. But if you are in Istanbul and you buy the rug at the first store that you come to you will be making a big mistake.
After Ephesus go to the Zirve rug company and see what they have to offer. Nice people there and they serve a great traditional lunch as well.
