“Meaningful”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

I was unexpected moved as I wondered this hillside and considered that this could be where John the Apostle spent time in prayer and writing his gospel account. The view is beautiful, and one could imagine how it was once a peaceful secluded spot. In trying to visualize the Cathedral itself, it was helpful to view the model set up behind the ruins. It is situated so that the model faces the same direction as the actual ruins, so looking at the two together helped me to get my bearings and to figure out more what I was looking at.

“A good view”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

We visited this church as part of our RSD tour of Lycia. Parts are very well preserved especially the baptismal pool for total immersion. It is interesting to see the different religious temples from the top-the Ali Bey mosque, the temple of Artemis and the Christian church of St John. Particularly interesting are the storks nests on the columns.

“Interesting Ruins”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

There's not a whole lot left of the structure, but enough of the foundations and floor-plan to see what went where. Lots of good on-site info too.
