A very welcoming pensione, staff very friendly and helpful, small rooms had good beds, private shower and balcony.sBreakfast was one of the best we've had so far, with fresh fruit, homemade Pomegranite Jam ,fresh Yoghurt as well as all the usual Turkish bread, cheese egg etc. We took ours up to the roof top terrace wich is FABULOUS and possibly the best view around. good value in a central location 2 mins. Walk to the st.john's basilica, and Ephesus only 15 mins away by mini bus found at closeby Otogar. Go early to Ephesus before the cruise ship crowds arrive mid morning.

Room Tip: Balcony was sunny ,with the swing and handmade furniture was nice but make sure you go to the roof t...

My son and I stayed at Homeros for 3 nights. Dervis picked us up at the airport. Barbara had dinner ready for us - nice after traveling for 18 hours. Rooftop terrace was magical, food was great. Nice atmosphere. Very well located, clean and safe. After a full day of sightseeing, we would finish the evening with a glass of wine and a game of backgammon on the terrace. Easy to get to metrobus station or train station. There was nothing I didn't like about staying there and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The curtains allowed some ambient light into the room at night - I used the eye covers supplied by T...

This beautiful little hotel in the heart of Selcuk gives you everything you need to enjoy Ephesus and places nearby. Hosts Dervis and Barbara welcomed us at the Izmir airport and drove us home with a stop on the way for tea. From the rooftop terrace, colourful with carpets and hangings, we could see the whole of the ancient town - the temple of Artemis, the ancient baths and the huge church of St John. (The famous Ephesus site is just up the road behind a hill - Dervis will arrange transport - but the actual city moved many times). Every morning we enjoyed a delicious traditional Turkish breakfast, and the dinners were amazing. Dervis was very helpful with making arrangements and recommending other places to stay

We booked a transfer as we were arriving late. Dervis and Barbara turned up on time- we even stopped for tea and pastries- so it was a good start.

Room a little cold. Wifi did not work unless you sat next to door but in lounge and on roof worked well.

Breakfast ok. Little boring to have same every day and not buffet- plate of fruit and egg and some cheese& vegetables served with bread. Not that tasty but was ok.

Dinner one night- enough food but bland and not tasty. Shame as pre dinner smells were great. 18 lira was pricier than what we paid in town & we enjoyed dinner there more. Slightly awkward atmosphere at dinner as no shared conversation but could hear everyone else's conversation.

No free wine at sunset as in other reviews:-( but view from terrace lovely.

Hosts friendly enough. Asked us to write review and even gave us paper to remind us.....!

Ps- nothing to do with pension....
Don't rely on train to airport. We couldn't get on- too many people - even with our skills learnt from (crowded) London commuting! We took dolmus at 9lira instead.

Homeros is one of the most interesting places we've ever stayed! It's filled with Turkish and tribal antiques, a feast for the eyes. We felt like we were staying in a Turkish apartment of a hundred years ago. And the innkeepers are the sweetest of people, so helpful and friendly. Dervis is funny and warm. The rooftop view is splendid, and the open air breakfast space very inviting. Loved it!

Dervis, the owner and proprietor of the Homeros Pension, is fantastic. Simply fantastic. He's a consummate entertainer, and makes you feel like a member of his family. Between his songs and dances and excellent home-cooked food, the Dervis is the host you wish you had at every hotel you stayed in. Were I to travel to Turkey again, I'd stay in Selcuk for a few more days, and do day trips to other sites in the area, just to spend more time at the Homeros Pension.

The hotel is not fancy, to be sure, but comfortable and very homey. Expect a small room, but then again, with an expansive open air dining area and a rooftop lounge with mind-blowing sunset views, why spend time in your room?

It's a little far from the train and bus stations, but, if you call in advance, Dervis is more than happy to send a driver to come get you.
