“A Great Traveller's Pension!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012 via mobile

What a welcoming place! My wife and I arrived here tired after dark to a wonderful welcome by xx who along with his family provided us a very nice two nights and three days in Selcuk. The comfortable common area upstairs is a very relaxing place for beer and wine where other travelers are coming and going and you can interact as much or as little as you like. Plus there is a roof top area above this with panoramic views. To go above expectations to see that we had a nice time was obviously their nature. I definitely recommend this place especially if interacting with the hosts and other travelers is your thing. A great fruit filled breakfast and the excellent dinners topped off a great experience.

Had a great time at this pension. It is a family run guesthouse and everyone made me feel totally welcome. Granny cooks the food and she is an absolute gem. The views from the upper rood balcony area are stunning. I also purchased a beautiful Kilim in Selcuk and ma absolutely delighted with it. It makes my room smile. Ephesus is nearby and is the main reason why you would visit Selcuk: it is amazing.

We stayed here during the off-season of travel, and all other hostels, etc were virtually empty. Homeros Pension, however, was full, and for good reason! The rooms have a unique, antique-shop feel to them. The family who runs the place was incredibly friendly and hospitable. They even noticed it was one of the guest's birthdays, and they made him a cake that all the guests enjoyed together at dinner. Make sure you eat dinner there at least one of your evenings here! We loved getting to know other travelers from all over. Homeros Pension provides a great atmosphere for that, but you have as much privacy as you would like.

Homeros Pension &Guesthouse is a fun, friendly family run Pension. The rooms are quirky with textiles covering every space. Ours had a wonderful view over the hills & the remains of Artemis Temple. The facilities were good & the rooms were clean. Each evening you can enjoy a wine on the terrace with other guests & exchange experiences. The home cooked meals are divine.

A great place to base yourself for a couple of days to explore the mighty Ephesus. Rooms are very comfortable, and each one uniquely decorated (beautiful woodwork and tapestry). The gregarious owner, Dervis is always eager to chat and share his in depth knowledge of the area. The free glass of wine at sunset is a nice perk as well, and a great way to meet other travelers.

Make sure to do dinner at least one evening at the guesthouse - Dervis' mother makes them from scratch. Delicious!

We stayed three nights and found Shaziye (Dervish's sister) to be very friendly, upbeat, helpful. She even volunteered to put together a very welcome "take away" breakfast for us on our last day because we had to leave hours before breakfast was served. This is a delightful little place with charming rooms (but not super spacious). We had one of their dinners, and found it quite typically "Turkish" and very ample. Shaziye provides masses of fresh fruit for breakfast - more than anywhere else we stayed. Plus complimentary apple tea & cookies upon arrival, and a free glass of local wine in the evening. Our room was on the street side, first floor, but it was still very quiet. (Plus - their botttom sheets were a bit wider than the mattress - a REAL RARITY in Turkey where bottom sheets normally come just barely to the edge of the mattress IF you're lucky. The wider sheets were conducive to better sleep than we'd had for awhile.)

Our room was clean and comfortable. The Kose family make you feel like you are at home. Dervis is a perfect host, warm, efficient and what a great personality! His advice was genuine and thoughful-not to mention right on target for enjoying Selcuk, Ephesus and beyond. We had heard the the evening meals were not to be missed. We went out on our own the first night and had a good meal. The next evening, after a day at Ephesus we stayed to have dinner at the pension. It was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Mama is not only a lovely woman, she is a superb cook. The evening glass of wine on the terrace allowed us to chat with other guest. We met some lovely people from various countries and got a chance to share experiences. I wish I was still there, and intend to go back to Homeros soon.
